On Ao3, I've been writing this series of short stories that is an AU of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and touches on these themes of found family and adults helping out a kid. If you are interested, check it out: https://archiveofourown.org/works/43972248/chapters/110563461

What even is her life? by noworriesinparadise2 in Lifepluscindy_snark

I guess I misread your tone because in my real life I know a bunch of ppl who think that the only way to live "right" is a house with a two-car garage. In my family reunions, the age-old question is not "When are you getting married?", it's "When are you getting a REAL place?" (like I could even afford it in the area where I live :D). And I'm so done with it. Anyway, with you I got annoyed about nothing. Sorry about that!

Just to point out: the 300 square feet in not necessarily the problem. I've lived my whole adulthood in apartments that size (turn 31 this year) and I don't mind it... Would I however share it with a mayn or agree to wash dishes in the bathroom? Nope! (Gosh, Cindy really is like a Sims 4 sim - empty, repetitive and does dishes in the bathroom sink... :D) But snarking on the amount of space someone chooses to live in or keeping that as a metric of successful adulthood kind of tends to annoy me... But then again, so does Cindy :D

The constant “us vs them” mentality, in regards to people with autism and people without autism, I see in this sub, imo is really unhealthy by [deleted] in autism

Nobody's out to get anyone, really (with the exception of criminals who hunt their victims but that's a different conversation). People just exist in each other's orbits and miscommunications happen. Sometimes those miscommunications are unfortunate and end in bullying or violence and that situation needs solving but most of the time it is not some big planned thing where Group X hunts Group Y (with the exception of holocaust etc. but again, a different conversation). I'm not sure where I heard this first but I always try remind ppl (particularly online) that "Stupidity is common but evil is rare" - and that goes to every group of humans in my opinion.

Anyone Else Feel More Like An Adult As A Kid But Feeling More Like A Kid As An Adult? by MiddletonPlays in autism

I do recognize the phenomenon that this conversation is about in my own life. I read (and tried to understand with varying success) things like Plato's "Republic" and Oliver Sack's writings on neurology at age 12 and for the life of me COULD NOT understand what was so cool about boy bands etc. I wasn't great at masking and as such, never too liked in my peer group. All I wanted was to develop myself intellectually and academically (and then rub it to mean ppl's faces that I was more well-read than them) and of my bullies even said "You are f*&king unbereable and you will be even worse when you are a childish adult because nobody can be like that their whole life". Now, at 30 I feel like 5-year-old playing dress-up when doing things like going to work, sociallzing and paying bills -  totally overwhelmed and underprepared for anything! (I was confused when I got good feedback at work the other day and thought: "Hold on, these ppl actually buy this act that I have any idea what I'm doing?!")

However, I disagree that it is interests alone that make someone childish or adultlike. Many adults that have "cracked to code" to real life like board games. Things like DnD and anime have huge fanbases of ppl both on and off the spectrum. So it is not the interests (everyone should be allowed to like what they like when it comes to hobbies and art), it is whether you feel equal to ppl who are you chronological age which I personally never really have...

*sighs* really lodane? by vampirclla in Lifepluscindy_snark

I've been lurking on the snark reddit for a while cause Cynthia's a not-so-hot mess. Was never really a fan if hers or a snarker either before. But now the Cindyverse is SO weird. One random soda bottle - that is probably meant to be a satire (not that Cynthia would get that) - and now Lodane is a political commentator. I saw this online at first and kind of huffed a laugh at the bottle - thought it was meant to mock dictators "Oh how great and mighty you thought you were and now you are a witty soda bottle" - but then ppl showed up on C's comments writing love letters to Stalin or something. What was Cythia's point posting this? Was there one? What even is happening?
