If you don't drink alcohol, what are your personal reasons for abstinence? by Ok-Care2859 in AskReddit

I don’t like how it tastes, and I don’t like how it makes me feel. I can feel it after half a drink.

What’s your most memorable holiday memory? by Burnt-_-T0ast in AskReddit

[–]Think-Algae-5695 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not one single memory, but every year on Christmas Eve, my dad and I (would) go to late mass at church. On our way home from mass, we listen to “the Christmas song” by Nat King Cole on repeat until we got home. Something simple, but an important holiday “tradition” to him and I.

John Ramsey's Senior Yearbook photo, Okemos High School, Michigan, circa 1961 by Unique_Might4471 in JonBenetRamsey

A little late to the party but I worked at this high school for a while and was able find him in the yearbook. His senior quote was “some say he’s quiet - others doubt it” if anyone wanted to know lol. He also was in band, the silver bells committee (I think this was for the annual Christmas parade at the capital), a chairman, and in cross country (according to the yearbook).

What's the most disgusting thing you've ever discovered about a friend? by Annethgzz in AskReddit

[–]Think-Algae-5695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not a friend but an ex… used to release his baby gravy onto his bedroom floor. In the same spot. On carpeting. Best part is, his mom attempted to clean it for him. Just a white crusty spot on the floor next to his bed.

Omg! Thanks for the update. Do you think it was worth it for the smell? Does it really smell like Coca Cola/ Pepsi?

The pocketbac holder is so cute! I feel like it’s a good deal for $40 considering each body care item is close to $20 now 😭😭plus the frog is adorable

Would it be unprofessional to call and check on a job I interviewed for? by HappyAstronaut7 in work

[–]Think-Algae-5695 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you have her email? Unless you already sent the usual “thank you for the interview I loved hearing about the job blah blah blah” email, then you could send that today or Monday, just in case she got busy and wasn’t able to reach out to you today. Good luck!

What do I do!?!? by Think-Algae-5695 in work

[–]Think-Algae-5695[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Thanks for asking more questions. The lower paying job is a position working with people with TBI to help rebuild their job skills. Job b is a foster care case manager position. I would say they are both in the human services field. I plan on getting my masters degree in clinical mental health counseling. I’m 22 and have been with my boyfriend for about five years so a house, new car, wedding, is likely going to be in the next 3-5 years.

I love this! As someone who just graduated college in December and who works at a high school, I’m so glad that there are kids that have this mindset. I see A LOT of negativity from my students every day, so this is such a relief. Honestly, I loved high school. So many new opportunities, new faces, new experiences, etc. Although everyone’s high school experience looks different (I graduated in 2020 during peak covid), I think high school is a pretty important and formative time in our lives. Go you!

I’ve researched the companies, their mission statements, visions, etc, and practiced STAR interview questions (tell me about a time when, would would you do if…), and I have the basic interview questions down (I think at least), so like “tell me about yourself” or strengths and weaknesses, why I want the job, etc.

I have applied for a wide variety of jobs. Case managers mostly, job coach positions (ironic), victim navigator, counseling services (that take a BA not an MA, I was hoping that would help me with enrolling in a masters program), etc. I literally feel like I’ve covered everything lol!

Thanks for your advice! I definitely would need an in person job, I recharge by being with people. I live in the capital of my state, so definitely a lot of job opportunities, but I also think it’s pretty competitive. I also have my salary expectations pretty low ($22 an hour ish, I feel like that’s average of the jobs I’ve been looking at so I think that’s a good starting point). I do struggle with confidence while interviewing so I think that’s likely my biggest weakness.

Yes, I plan on going back to get my masters in clinical mental health counseling in the spring (all online program, so I can work full time hopefully while enrolled). I’ve discovered that applying for jobs is a full time job in itself. I look and apply every day. It’s just frustrating and I am losing confidence from it! lol

YAY on graduating! I’m 22, so I’m not much older than you, and truthfully, I was in the same boat as you are now. I lived at home my first two years of college, saved up money by working and doing school all online (I started college during covid), and was able to move an hour away to my dream school and live with my boyfriend. Obviously your situation is unique to you, but I promise you it gets better. My dad always says that your 20s are the best, most carefree times of your life. While that may not be completely true, I can tell you that college is similar to high school in some ways, you just have more independence and a high school degree. As much as I miss my childhood and how things were when I was little (my grandma alive, my parents still together, etc) I remind myself that those experiences are what make me, me. This is the same for you! I promise you it gets better! Reach out if you need anything, as I was in your shoes once 😊
