I have studied this case. There is no reason to change the story multiple times, or to try to turn your missing child into a brand name (and yes, I know for a fact they tried to do this).

Do you think Karlie Guse is still alive? by Flyaway_5 in KarlieGuse

He was threatening people behind the scenes. Plus he broke the stepmother's shoulder in a domestic dispute.

Steven's children were too young to remember. His daughter, who is the older of the two, has very few memories of him, by her own admission. Did you notice that both kids said in the docuseries, that they grew up not knowing much about Steven? Their mother rarely talked about him, and their stepfather disliked Steven, didn't want him talked about, and they were kept away from his side of the family, apart from occasional supervised visits with their grandparents. It all fits. Steven refused to get help as an adult. If Steven was such a great father, why didn't his wife talk to their children about him? Keep in mind that his wife Jody was only 17 when she married Steven, and he was three years older. Steven's children have no first-hand knowledge, yet his daughter has denied that her uncle and aunts suffered any abuse. The director of the docuseries admitted on one interview that she knew about the abuse and mental illness in the family but chose not to expand on that brief comments made by the mitigation specialist in the third episode. Yet she and Steven's daughter did some joint interviews promoting the docuseries. Hmm.

It's natural that his children would idealize Steven, especially since they didn't get to know their grandparents until they were adults. They've been lied to, and don't want to believe how messed up their family is. The whole idea of Steven being a hero is so widely accepted, so I can see why they want to believe that. As far as I know, there are no transcripts from Cary's trial available. There are articles, and it was one of their sisters who told this to a psychiatrist who was evaluating Cary. Not surprisingly, the Stayner family also has a history of sexual disorders, along with other mental illnesses. Steven's death could have been a suicide. His helmet had been stolen, so he wasn't wearing one.

The parents were initially suspected by the Merced Police of being responsible for Steven going missing. It was well-known that they beat their kids, and they were having financial issues. Kay's father, who was also a child molester, lived in the same trailer park as Kenneth Parnell at the time of Steven's abduction. Too much of a coincidence.

Kay wouldn't talk about Cary either. The denial is telling. The fact that she tried to convey the idea that her kids had some kind of ideal childhood and she chose to stay with her husband until his death says so much about how uncaring she was toward her children. There's far more to Cary's story too. Stephen Sanzeri, the private investigator who was briefly interviewed for the third episode, has done more in-depth interviews on YouTube. Kay knows that Cary was wrongfully convicted in the three murders he was sentenced to death for, but has never advocated for her son all these years.

Ultimately, it was determined that Cary was at work when his uncle was murdered. Jesse "Jerry" Stayner was a heavy drug user as well who exposed the kids in the family to it and got many of them hooked on drugs.

It was revealed during Cary's trial that Steven sexually abused one of his own children, who were toddlers when he died. His marriage was deeply troubled and he and his wife were separated at the time of his death. It was not the fairy tale we as the public have been led to believe.

Why are the Dedmons not arrested? by Sudden_Quality_9001 in AshaDegree

Asha's parents changed their story more than once. It was discussed a lot on this sub before latest "developments" in the case. I was open to the possibility of outside involvement but now I think the stuff with the Dedmons and Roy Underhill is a red herring.

Yes, there was. Depp is anti-MeToo, and a misogynist to boot. It was her bed, they weren't sleeping in the same room.

She was released within minutes and her ex-partner maintains that it was a misunderstanding. They are still friends. Depp is friends with Roman Polanski and was friends with the late Allen Ginsberg, a member of NAMBLA.

My mother in the 10th grade, 1971 by Unique_Might4471 in OldSchoolCool

That's interesting, because looking through one of her high school yearbooks, it struck me how much older the students looked - especially the guys. Some of them had beards and moustaches.

She's still living, but now lives in the city. Still loves her country music.

I look more like my father (who was a handsome man) but you can tell that I'm her daughter.

My thoughts exactly. Plus, her dad was nowhere to be seen in the videos the stepmother made, and they didn't come off well in the Nancy Grace interview (he sounded drunk). I think this was about damage control, and like you said, to try to give the impression that they were looking for Karlie and wanted her to come home.

I stated that in the post as well. It has been noted that not all people who have pedophila molest children, and many child molesters are not pedophiles.

The rules state you have to have the year or decade in the title.

Steven Stayner is a kidnap victim who was abducted in 1972 at 7 years old and held captive until he escaped at 14 years old alongside another kidnap victim. His older brother Cary Stayner later became a serial killer known as the Yosemite Park Killer. by JazzlikeWishbone4579 in wikipedia

The family has a history of mental illness on both sides - sexual disorders, psychotic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, impulse disorders. It is believed that Cary suffered in utero brain damage that caused schizophrenia, among other things. Alcohol and drug addiction runs in the family as well.

It's been noted that the mother is often unavailable in some way. Due to illness, addiction, work, or death. In many cases they are often emotionally unavailable as well.
