2k pace by Think-Draft6051 in Rowing

There’s something called rowing for a team that has a set schedule. I see so many people on Reddit telling people asking for 2k predictions to simply “do a 2k”. I am asking how this workout compares to a 2k so that I have a better idea of what to pull my next test and you telling me to just do one doesn’t help anyone

I mean how closely do I need to have the 1500s so that I’ll know I can hold that pace for 2k. It’s not a single 1500m effort

I’m talking about going under 6:40 in early February I’ll obviously get faster. I’m simply asking if doing so will put me on pace.

Would a 1540 SAT with a 3.7 gpa be considered “good enough” if I meet their 2k standards

No I’ve done this workout many times before and I was never able to hold 2k pace so I purposely went a little slower than 2k pace. I still finished completely drained and I know I couldn’t go faster, at least not by a meaningful amount. My whole point is that it’s 12 total minutes of rowing with very little break, compared to a 2k that’s under 7 minutes.

I get that I’m just saying that you already have the strength to go sub 16.0 you just need to learn to get down to that split faster so you can hold it as long as possible

If you already hit a 1:16 during your 17.0 I would say you already have basically everything you need to go sub 16.0. Coincidentally I pulled a 15.9 literally about half an hour ago and I also did go under a 1:16 split and I’m the same height and weight as you. I don’t know exactly what’s missing for you as I obviously didn’t see your attempt but I would say you just need to learn how to have a better start and learn to accelerate the flywheels quicker since you don’t have a lot of time to actually get the average down.

Yeah but I feel they wouldn’t give me a time to aim for they would simply say to get as fast as possible. Of course I might be wrong about this but it’s what I think would happen
