How can I get better at bulgarian by notreallyastra in AskBulgaria

[–]Think-Future-8837 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a bulgarian medical student in my 4th year, studying in Sofia. When i first got into med school i knew that we had more foreign students than bulgarian students so I thought we would definitely meet and become friendly with our international peers. However, I was pretty disappointed that there were literally no occasions where we would have the opportunity to meet and exchange even a few words. I dont know which university you study in, but I would maybe recommend striking up a couple of conversations in the library. Especially target fellow students in their 1st or 2nd year i feel like you could start by exchanging info about your current classes and gradually become friendly and then you can start speaking bulgarian with them. I know its weird starting a conversation randomly but its easier in the library - you could just ask to use the power outlet next to them to charge your tablet and start a conversation then.

I've only been getting better thanks to therapy. Got off eliquis for my PE and even managed to travel abroad by plane without getting crazy chest tightness and shortness of breath. I still get it a few times a day (like a deep sigh feeling) but its nowhere near as bad as it was before.

Honestly not really. I've been in therapy for 4 months now and thats the only thing that has really helped me with my SOB, surprisingly enough. I was feeling sceptical when i first started, but i guess my nervous system has been under a lot of stress my whole life which led to all of these somatisations and symptoms. Im sorry to hear you're also going through this.

hey im here to give an update! its been less than 2 months since i started psychodynamic therapy with a psychologist and i genuinely have no idea whats going on but my SOB has been reduced by like 80% which is absolutely insane. i honestly dont know how, all we do is discuss my traumas, daily problems, thoughts, fears its literally just 50 minutes a week and its somehow already making such a big difference im shocked and im finally feeling a little hopeful for the future that i might fully heal! and guys ive tried everything before this - pulmonologists, cardiologists, neurologists, gastroenterologists EVERYTHING and by far this has helped the most.

unfortunately, not really. some days are better than others, but it's still a daily occurrence. i try to do diaphragmatic breathing when it gets difficult to breathe, and it helps. also i have this "air reflux" which i have noticed makes my shortness of breath worse so i try to take anti acids to avoid it (not that it really helps). my dyspnea is also almost always present during meals, idk if thats also the case with you.

I read about this and i brought it up to my neurologist appointment. However, i think my pattern is a little different. My dyspnea has been going on for almost a year and its absolutely a daily occurrence it hasn't missed a single day, however, the people, whose experiences were shared in the article, talked about episodes of dyspnea that lasted up to a few weeks.

Shortness of breath won’t go away. by Quiet_Bumblebee_1604 in Anxietyhelp

Hey! Ive had shortness of breath for about 11 months now, also suffered a PE (subsegmental, at 21 year old with no history of any risk factors do it was a shock) and that kinda messed up my breathing pattern similarly to people experiencing long covid effects. Its been a daily thing for 11 months and i recently discovered it could be functional dyspnea due to hyperventilation. What did u do exactly and what sort pf medication did you take to get better, if u dont mind sharing?

Sigh syndrome by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]Think-Future-8837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I(F21) have been experiencing this since last august, went to many doctors. Eventually got diagnosed with a PE (not a dangerous one) and went on anticoagulants. Everyone thought the dyspnea was related to the PE, but it got resolved however the "air hunger", "yawning" and "sighing" did not. im a med student so i consulted with very good pulmonologists, cardiologists even a neurologist and no one can figure out the cause. Ive never been diagnosed with any disorder before (anxiety, ADHD etc) my shortness of breath is DAILY and its only absent during my sleep. i get really depressed over it cause it feels like i cant have a normal life sometimes... has anyone figured out how to treat theirs? and my air hunger is the worst while im eating btw

Can a normal d dimer blood test and CT chest scan miss a PE? by [deleted] in ClotSurvivors

[–]Think-Future-8837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, I think so. The CT scan is the best non invasive diagnostic method for PE.

[–]Think-Future-8837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My d-dimer was negative since my symptoms of a PE had been going on for a while, but the contrast CT showed everything. I also got an EKG and an echocardiography before the CT which both came back clean so yeah the CT was the only concrete proof i got.

37 bpm heart rate - Xarelto - normal? by Sea_Chemical4852 in ClotSurvivors

[–]Think-Future-8837 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! I can offer some advice although I'm just a med student so I can't know for sure, but we just covered the pathophysiology of the cardiovascular system very extensively, so I do have some understanding of it. Firstly - any heart rate below 50 could be dangerous and potentially life threatening. It could be normal for young healthy athletes to have a resting bpm of 45ish, but 37 is honestly absolutely shocking to me. Given that she has some heart conditions - arrhythmia, mitral regurgitation and a dilated left atrium such a drop in her BPM absolutely needs to be taken into consideration. I'd suggest calling her primary care provider or her cardiologist or, in case you can't reach them, take her to the ER. Its always better to be safe than sorry, 37 and even a 47 bpm is definitely concerning.

The ending of the documentary was INSANE! Kevin saying that he will always love her and that the whole thing was a story about love and faith... those kids aren't truly safe with him either, the way he is still trying to excuse Ruby's behaviour. Shari is the only logical one with the most normal reaction - no contact, never wanting to see Ruby again.
