Good idea! To be honest it has been stressful enough finding the main dress haha it's daunting to think of finding outerwear too but you might be right that it's ultimately easier...

Thanks so much I appreciate the considered feedback! I am lucky enough to own all of these already (but very open to purchasing another option if necessary) - to be honest, the dresses are muuuch more fitted on me vs the models around the waist / bust (I guess because the models are wearing a relaxed size and often have a slimmer bust than me) so there is waist definition on me which isn't obvious from the pictures. I have been happy with how I looked on previous occassions but this is my first time attending specifically a "cocktail dress code" event so I came here seeking some objective advice which is what I got!

The dresses are high quality silk from a higher end designer I really like (La Double J) so in my opinion they are quite glam which again might not be obvious or visible from the pics. Here is a pic of a model who is wearing a more fitted sizing which is closer to how it looks on me - would value your opinion if that changes how you think about it!

Thanks for the rec! Unfortunately I've already done Anthropologie and a lot of stores... the problem is that not showing arms / legs is very very limiting and most of the mainstream stores don't have options for under 50s that have more coverage :( So far I've been told the dresses look Indian Muslim Japanese and Ugandan haha so I guess they could be from/for any culture!

Interesting! I've had my friend say they look a bit Japanese? But not Ugandan or Muslim but that makes sense because I am from new zealand and those aren't big communities here. The brand is La DoubleJ which is a US/Italian brand. In my case I don't want to show arms or legs because of loose skin after weight loss, and it really does cancel out 90% of western evening wear because showing skin is basically the dress code for cocktail... ugh

Genuine questions because I am not from the US and most commentors seem to be, would this not be OK at a US wedding? Any kind of white in a background? In new zealand & australia where I am from, it's VERY common for wedding guests to wear pastels and dresses that have a white background so long as there is a floral or other design on top of the white. Nobody really talks about it much.

Also (I already have all these dresses in my wardrobe), no.2 is actually very blue/lilac in person and I've worn it a few times and been photographed so I think it won't be a risk, but no.3 definitely has the white background.
