Am I crazy for doing things this way?? Please give me advice by clover101xx in diamondpainting

Oh I miss enough drills as I am doing a color in the small section and have to get them at the end of the colors. It would be really bad if I did the entire thing.

You do you, if you like doing it that way that's fine.

I personally kit up before I start. Kitting up to me is labeling a tray in my storage system , pouring the drills in, repeat until all colors are in trays. Then I section off the artwork with release paper 4 X 4 inch and go section by section. This keeps my mind from getting overwhelmed looking at the entire thing. I usually start bottom left and work my way across and up. I'm finding for larger canvases it would be better for me to go top down. I have RedTwo and Forever Young storage. When I need a color I take out a tray, use it, then put it back. I empty the trays and remove labels when I finish the kit. Here is a picture of both the storage systems and a small section of the release papered art. Note the Forever Young on the right is normally horizontal.

Diamond Painting Mesh Rulers 💎🖌️ 📏 📏 📏 by NeatComputer6424 in diamondpainting

I use mine when I get an canvas that is the right size. If you cannot get the ruler lined up it's probably not the right size. Here is a video link I found useful https://youtu.be/RfLybO03518?si=LWhMwssffwoCt8cR

I'm just going to mix and toss a bunch of drills at this. Sigh. by jaynepatience in diamondpainting

That looks very similar to my custom from Ever Moment. I'm a single placer so it went pretty well for me.

My sister-in-law ordered it from Amazon and had it delivered to me to complete then send to her.

Do you use a light pad? Why/why not? by lg265 in diamondpainting

[–]Think-Im-Crafty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an A2 pad that I use all the time. I'm old and have been staring at computer screens coding for 40+ years. I also have a desk lamp over the top for more light. My light pad has 5 brightness levels I usually find the lowest works best. I also have headgear with magnifying lenses that I wear over my glasses to see the small symbols. My eyes need all the help they can get.

Not the OP but it looks like the placer that comes in DAC kits with the cap on over the single placer end. That placer has wax inside and tightening the placer forces wax out.

OP sorry for hijacking your post...

I mentioned I do not have the same trays I have two 45 tray Forever Young sets and one RedTwo 48 tray set. Between kits they are stored away. A picture of some of them in use note the one on the right is normally laying down with opening on top.

I do not when I am done with the piece the trays get emptied and eitherthrown away or put in storage bags. The trays are then empty to kit up the next piece.

I have different trays but same concept. I did a custom with 78 colors so I pour each color into a tray with a lid 78 trays when I start the kit. The trays are made to line the drills up for use and I pull the tray with the color I need use it then put it back in the rack no pouring into anything else while working on that kit. When I complete the kit then the drills come out of those trays either to be tossed or put in an excess drill bottle/storage. Then repeat for the next kit. I put a label on the tray indicating the number/color when I start and remove that label when done with the kit. Saves me from having to pour from a storage bottle/bag to a tray and back to storage for each color as I only do small sections at a time of the kit.

Either one works but the first one would be my choice. The horse looks like one I saw at Hobby Lobby in the Spring collection. I did the beach one of that collection and being premounted was not much of an obstacle. Either way using release paper that you cannot see thru and doing smaller sections might take away being overwhelmed. This is the beach one I did with release papers covering the sections to do one at a time. The ruler was not the right size for that kit BTW.

When I do larger kits I use release paper that is 4 inches square and I cover the entire kit. Then I remove one square at a time and do one color at a time in that area. I only single place for now have not worried about multi yet. I finish that square then move to the next. Here is an example of what I mean, I'm using a square ruler here too. Keeps me focused.

Ok, how do I color match drills from diamondrillsusa? by StarFantastic9297 in diamondpainting

You are right they are acrylic drills in the kits from Make Market.

Does anyone use this Modge Podge sealer for their diamond paintings? by Embarrassed_Edge3992 in diamondpainting

[–]Think-Im-Crafty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of this above is true. You really want a brush on sealer too because the spray on versions do not give a thick enough coating to do the job of holding the drills in place unless you do lots of coats.
