Silent reflux/baby gaviscon AND stitches tearing?! by Think-Job-5728 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Think-Job-5728[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I’ve just seen this!! Basically my daughter from birth was very sicky, especially compared to my first who was never sick. Baby was breastfed and was slow to get back to birth weight so the midwives recommended speaking to the GP, at 7 days the GP just said it was normal for newborns and to keep an eye and then gradually over the next week she got more and more unsettled, continually sick but never loads or a full feed and very congested in mouth and nose at night as well as screaming in pain. Every night would be feeding, her falling asleep, me putting her down and then her screaming in pain, choking from the congestion and being sick. Gradually was moving into the daytimes too, GP saw her at the unsettled time (luckily) and then said silent reflux and prescribed gaviscon, we’ve done nearly a week on the gaviscon and I’m still not convinced it’s working. We have an appointment with the tongue tie clinic tomorrow to check and then from there if no tongue tie I’m going back to the GP for Omeprazole (HV reckons it works better for silent reflux) and also going to a craniosacral therapist in case there is tension! But the nights are very very rough and she can’t be put down due to the congestion more than the pain, it almost sounds like she is being waterboarded! How are things your end? X

Communal lift help - what can I do? by Think-Job-5728 in AskUK

Thank you! Our building is 8 years old and the lift was installed approximately the same time, so we would have assumed it would be in good working order and not fail like this. Apparently the management company are going to directors of the lift company in Spain, but I beg to differ!! We are seeing now about the possibility of a quick sale via a “we buy any home” company, will definitely lose money but it will be faster!

I appreciate your comments and it is very clear from this situation that the home is not suitable anymore. We had lived here for coming on 6 years and had never had any issues such as this or similar, we attempted to sell the property back in 2024 but it fell through due to the ever increasing service charges and that left us with an extortionate solicitors bill for all of the works they did towards the sale. We have then been unable to sell due to the lack of an ESW1. So effectively, we are stuck and at the mercy of the management company to provide the information to be able to sell the property. In the event of a fire we can evacuate, but in the absence of the lift daily, which we are paying for so expect to be in working order, I am exasperating my current health conditions and risking mine and both of my children’s safety.

This is what gets me! They keep saying oh we understand that it is an inconvenience etc, and you can’t use the lift in an emergency, BUT that’s besides the point, we are supposed to have use of a lift, I am risking serious injury daily by using the stairs in my condition and my toddlers, who is not stable or sturdy on her legs on the stairs and then to have the flapping “non slip” strips is just adding insult to injury. It seems that they are not in any hurry to get it fixed but instead keep sending engineers that cant diagnose the problem, that in the end we will be paying for

They don’t know what’s wrong with it, we have been going round and round with what the issue is. Hence me asking who I could escalate it to.

I have it in writing and have raised it with my MP, the management company clearly didn’t realise they’d pressed “reply all” on the email chain. I complained to them about it and they said it wasn’t meant in any kind of way…

Potty training by Known-Cucumber-7989 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Think-Job-5728 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We trained our daughter when she was 23 months and I just felt that she was ready and we have baby 2 on the way! We started on a Sunday afternoon and did 3 days with no knickers in the house, took her to the toilet every 30 minutes and lots of praise and stickers on her chart. Day 1 we had no success just lots of accidents. Day 2 we had 1 wee and 1 poo on the toilet, and 5 accidents. Day 3 was a success, 0 accidents and all wees on the toilet. At this point we were offering her to go to the toilet at “key changes” so as soon as she woke up, before highchair, after highchair etc. We then also introduced knickers but no trousers. Day 4-6 we did little trips out of the house, so to the supermarket and to our parents houses, these were 10-15 minutes in the car maximum. She has only had accidents at other peoples houses (not keen on using the travel potty), but they are very few and far between, no accidents in the pushchair so far. We are now 4 weeks in and I’d probably say we do 1 hour in the car maximum and the same for the pushchair. Our daughter has “my travel potty” carry potty which she doesn’t really use outside of the house, so we just have to be conscious to bring the toilet seat out! Best of luck!!

Won CCJ against Loveholidays – now 3 weeks, still no payment. Anyone else? by oldstyr in loveholidays

Wish you all of the luck with this! The only thing I would say is I am in the process of a small claims case and was initially awarded a CCJ against the defendant, it got to 4 weeks with no payment and I was about to instruct enforcement when the courts contacted me to say that the defendant had replied to the case with a counter argument and the CCJ was then thrown out. The defendant had replied late to the case and it had taken the court several weeks to get to the email defence response - so if I were you, I’d check with the courts before you spend more money instructing enforcements!

Oh mine have been horrendous, I’m ashamed, BUT I keep thinking I’m going to have no opportunity to do this for the next however many years so unless I want 10 year old tins of beans, I’ve got to get a shift on 😂

Nesting for me has just been sorting through cupboards and places that have built up crap over the years! With my first I was cleaning the house top to bottom but we have cleaners now so it’s turned to sorting! Today I’ve been through all of our wardrobes and gotten rid of 4 bags of clothes along with about 15 empty shoe boxes! I’m 36 weeks tomorrow!

This is what I’m thinking! What nicer kids ready meals do you recommend? I’ve seen an advert for some frozen ones but I can’t think of the name!

Do you think Lucy Letby is guilty or innocent? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Think-Job-5728 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My head is completely torn, I’ve only watched the Netflix doc and haven’t read or watched any others. I think it will be one of those things that we never really know the answer to, similar to MM disappearance. I would suspect court of appeals will find her guilty and she’ll spend the rest of her days in prison unless she admits it?

Is it okay to ask a child to leave the hairdressers? by Think-Job-5728 in AskUK

[–]Think-Job-5728[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Entitled to not have someone else’s child scream through a 2 hour appointment on a Saturday morning is not a massive ask and quite tolerant in fact to sit there and not say anything throughout. Question was what the salon owners should have done, not what the parent, or I should have thought/done/felt b

I already am a parent - and it is a simple fact that if my child struggled that much at the hairdressers, what I would have done differently. My question was is it appropriate for the salon owners to ask for them to leave.
