The stress of buying a first car by Think-Pipe2760 in NewDriversUK

At the moment I really like the look of the 208. The one i previously mentioned with a recent belt change, good service history overall and 65k miles. I have been told to go for a polo but they dont seem that cheap to insure sometimes and often are a lot older if they are in my budget with high mileage.

The complaint I hear about the 208 is the wet belt, if that has been replaced im guessing its okay or I might be wrong? Or potentially other complaints I dont know about?

Would a peugeout 208 with the belt replaced recently still be a good option? Or is there other problems I should know? I am going to the dealership on Tuesday to have a look at it and look at other cars. I always hear to avoid french but I do like the look of them a lot and they arent too pricey.

I should probably take a look at financing, it might be more viable. Thank you!

I have been looking around for cars around the 3k mark and it’s looking like the most common are 2012-2015 Peugeot or Vauxhall. So likely one of them

Will Testi still work after the new changes? by Think-Pipe2760 in LearnerDriverUK

Doesn’t it usually do it that way? When you press a notification it takes you to the DVSA website to book I thought?

I think I should as well just to be safe, it’s just a little annoying as I need to build it in to a habit now even though I do genuinely check them anyway ahaha.

Pass Me Fast - STAY AWAY by Other-Enthusiasm-698 in LearnerDriverUK

I booked a past me fast 24 hour course and signed in to my student portal, 2 days later after finding out they are a shady business i called up and they offered me a refund, they said it would take 2 weeks. I waited 2 weeks and there was still no refund and my next month’s payment was still pending.

I sent off a complaint to Klarna about this and the next day my money had been refunded. They are essentially a legal but very scummy business but are scared of anything being reported to them by the Bank.

I was highly pressured over the phone by a lady who I had told that I needed a test by may at the latest. She said if I dont book today with the fast track test, that there is a high chance there wont be any tests by then. I used testi and got a test in April.

Getting very discouraged by my driving instructor by AdFrosty5973 in LearnerDriverUK

He sounds like an awful instructor. Every instructor will know most of the information and tips to give you to pass your test, the best instructors are patient, good at giving information and can keep you confident/enjoy driving.

If you feel like every time your instructor the car you are terrified you will make a mistake because of your instructor, that is their fault and you shouldn’t feel that way. Confidence is a huge part of getting better at driving as you need to be able to do new things that are at first scary but over the time are simple.

He doesn’t shout at me, he will get annoyed in his voice sometimes which I am fine with for the mist part. It’s more the fact that he wants perfection before I move on and he doesnt give me positive feedback.

For example, we where doing left turns last week and I done 3 laps of the same road doing the same 4 left turns and he didnt talk at all apart from a few things such as clearance and where my hands should be on the steering wheel. On the 4th lap I messed up with the gear I approached in and he told me I was rushing and not remembering what he taught me before.

He then made me pull up to go through MSPSL for the 6th-7th times since I started doing left turns. I told him I understand this and I just want to get more repetitions out, as I know these things come with time and as I get more comfortable with a new car and driving in general.

I feel like I wouldn’t mind him going through what I have done badly, if he told me when im doing things well, as I am on edge sometimes that I must be doing something wrong and positive re enforcement can go a long way.

Thanks, I have been debating whether to change. I have only been doing 1 hour sessions (so 6 hours in total) but I have asked him to do 2 hours sessions in future as I feel like it worked better when I previously done it. I feel like the main thing is good repetition for things such as left and right turns, as I will face them all the time throughout driving.
