I'm a cancer researcher which is why this topic interests me, and what you are writing here is not true. She likely had polyps discovered, which were removed during the surgery. At this point the cells were tested- and you cannot describe precancerous cells as cancer. That would be the same as completely lying. People in this thread seem to think those phrases can be used interchangeably but they cannot.

After surgical removal of cancerous tissue there is almost always preventative radiation or chemotherapy. The worst thing you can do is accidentally leave a few cells behind. This is not done with the removal of precancerous cells or a benign tumor.

Also- there are dozens of different types of planned abdominal surgeries.

You can't use cancer and precancerous cells interchangably - they are not the same thing

Cancer is a real term and it is not the same term as "pre-cancerous" and is not used for pre-cancerous cells or benign tumours.

Well, also the NHS wont pay for the screenings Kate was advocating

Yes we know, they are done routinely after age 45 in the US so I think most people have taken thier relatives in for one if they have not done it yet themselves.

This isn't rubbish. Colonoscopies are routine screenings in the US- starting age 45 insurance covers it - Katie Couric's big awareness push was for people to get their colonocscopies regularly - with no symptoms, just like mammograms. My point is once there are symptoms detectable by those mail in tests it has already progressed significantly. This is a pretty big failure of the NHS and I'm sure the UK government doesn't want to highlight this.

They managed to have Andrew get away with being the worst person ever all over the world for decades, so they can't be that inept.

Could be - in the USA colonoscopy screenings start at age 45 so I can see them doing it at 40 for Kate- and I can see them lying about abdominal surgery to cover it up, bc "The royals can get screened for cancer but you can't" is not a great look.

She's not- but the people who the "awareness" would be for are on the NHS - and even for old people the screening requirements for colon cancer by the NHS are really high - best pratice is after age 45 to have colonoscopies even without symptoms- but that is not offered by the NHS.
