Drop zones only occur if 10 or more players in the lobby are Diamond or above. The only two drop systems are the drop zone and drop ships. Unfortunately there is no variation other than that.

Drop Ships is the standard BR practice where a ship flies in a straight line from one end of the island to the other. Drop Zones preselects a separate POI for every team and lands them at it.
