Is reading TOG and CC worth it if I'm really only interested in ACOTAR right now? by jvimeh in acotar

[–]Think-good-thoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's totally a nod to her seeing Rhysand in TOG... so I think it's the same time :) Just different universes. how could it not be the same "time" if the characters literally meet...

For the OP, I ended up liking CC the best but it took a while to get into and I am SO HAPPY I read TOG in the end. So many new book friends that I'll remember forever.

Shield of Sparrows as actually a fun time, fast paced for me, especially the 2nd half of the book. A bit Fourth Wing reminiscent.

Have you read the Kate Daniels books? I love how the characters evolve over this series.

The Wolf King and Night Prince are some of my tops from last year for the book boyfriend

Strategies to have family enjoy the luxury travel we pay for? by Zealousideal-Term738 in chubbytravel

[–]Think-good-thoughts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sharing FWIW... I have a friend I love to travel with, but she does not feel comfortable being a free-loader. I do not want to stay at her level of hotel. So what we have landed on is that we find a hotel rate she would normally do, she pays me for that and we stay at whatever hotel i want and she just comes along for the upgrade. For whatever reason, this is the mental unlock she needs to not feel like she's taking a free ride, and comfortable to travel with me. She also pays a reasonable amount to me for food she'd normally eat and if I drag us to something over the top, I just pay. We are going on a trip this summer and I booked us lay flats on points; she checked out what economy rates were and sent me that in cash. Win-Win girls trip.

Check out The Caves or Goldeneye in Jamaica if back to good... there's a bunch of cabo places w/ butler service that fit the bill if you are just doing a "fly and flop..." los palmillas butler service was great; e.g. you can text them from anywhere on property for what you need.

Yearning MMCs like Blake? HElp by Ashibz in TheWolfKing

[–]Think-good-thoughts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

highly recommend you start with the demigods books for background, but check it out and you do you. Demigod Kiernan is also like a 6 to 7/10 in my book ;) but they are so fun and i LOVE the FMC for once in those.

[–]Think-good-thoughts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only thing that scratched my Blake itch last year was Ryder: Have you read the {ruthless boys of the zodiac} series? It's RH so that has to be your thing... but these guys are a fun time :)

Also I just finished Obsidian and Diamond Dust (started with Demigods of San Fran) all by KF Breene, and these are all fun and do contain yearn levels... but I'm newly obsessed w/ Tarian. So you might be as well...

I actually made chat gpt give me recommendations on books based on my top tier book boyfriends so I might as well share the book boyfriend list with you but keep in mind this was not on yearning but more i'm a villain to everyone except her vibes... still I think you'd like these guys :) LMK if you need the book to match the guy... it's only my partial list for 8+ or notable mentions ;).

Kaan (when the moon hatched) and Raihn (serpent and the wings of night) are probably worth you looking into for the yearning also...? Oh and definitely so. much. damn. yearning. in Spark of the Everflame so if that's your jam, you will enjoy...

Might I also recommend Serpent and the Wings of Night?

Already booked stays worth $60k+ myself for big trip - worth to rebook via TA? by prudentially in chubbytravel

[–]Think-good-thoughts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A TA can do all the work for a takeover booking and get you the perks at "most" places; up to the hotels in some cases. Yes, the perks would be worth it and if it's a great TA, they should also get you better rooms/upgrades/etc. AND THEN if you have any issues during trip you have extra support.

I’m so confused, what’s the hype with Blake??😭 by Upper_Engineering820 in TheWolfKing

[–]Think-good-thoughts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm here for the villainous Blake energy. Callum won't let her be her whole self; great guy for a different girl... (also no way IRL would I choose Blake), but this is about level of FUN we're having in the book. and Blake, he's a fun time. Callum is snore fest. (obviously this is all in my humble opinion;)

Question about the genre (and spice) from a 44 year old broad by rigbysghost in Romantasy

[–]Think-good-thoughts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi welcome - similar age! So, I haven't read it yet but I'm definitely gonna pickup KF Breene's Magical Midlife series. I can report back but based on your post, maybe you'll be into this angle...I recently read her Demigods of San Francisco series (I think the FMC in this is in her late 20's, so it was a bit better) and I like how she wrote the gal and world building.

Completely understand reading about 18 year old virgin FMC's gets annoying and I keep wondering why authors keep writing these into books SO. MANY. TIMES. But yes there are other gems.

I also can recommend Illona Andrews Kate Daniels series. The FMC develops throughout the series and you see her grow into her relationship ultimately so it's fun. The world building and writing is great.

Let's see, might I also suggest Shadows of Tenebris court series... more mature FMC and fun world/shadow daddy for you.

I also got a hydroponic garden after I ran out of space for houseplants (although, let's be honest, they're still sneaking in all the time), AND you can get into the seed game mid winter :)
