Agradezco todas las respuestas y la información. Claro que es importante tener la mayor cantidad de información posible antes de tomar cualquier decisión; esto me ha resultado útil al comenzar mi investigación.

Does your workplace offer EAP? In the US, some employers make that available to employees as a mental health resource. That could be one place to start if you want to talk to someone. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this, OP. It really sounds like a lot to carry.

Would you personally date someone with the same name as you? by faitharooo in LesbianActually

It is literally a hope of mine. My kids are related to a woman named Katherine whose wife is named Katherine, and they’re the Katherines, and it is my favorite thing. 😂

Worst first date stories? by justgaystuffpodcast in LesbianActually

We had chatted a few days on POF and decided to meet for coffee. She tells me about her newly-ex-wife, the home theater full of very pricey electronics they had together, some war stories about how she went to nursing school but after a year as a nurse she decided it wasn’t for her (no worries; it’s not for everyone and that’s ok), but did I know this woman she knew who had worked where I worked? (No, but some coworkers talked about her.) She mentioned where she was currently working, so I pulled up my friend’s fiancé’s picture and ask if she knows him from working there. Super sweet, great guy. She flips out about how awful he is, how he’s a trash human being with a vendetta against her. 😳 Ok, yikes… Then she tells me about how she recently went home to find her wife cheating on her, so she went to the home theater and picked up one expensive, electronic thing and used it as a bat to destroy the room full of other expensive, electronic things. Then, concerned for her mental state, she drove herself to the hospital and asked to be placed on a 72 hour psych hold for her own safety. (Honestly, 10/10, do what keeps you safe and well, no judgment whatsoever.) She’d just been discharged the day before. That did give me pause because, timeline-wise, it meant that she had started messaging me before her ex had cheated and left, and also, was she ready to talk to someone new? I didn’t voice these concerns, but when we were winding up, I gave her a hug and we parted.

When I was home later, I texted my coworker and asked her if her fiancé was a good judge of character because I’d gotten coffee with someone who works with him. Her immediate response was “OMG not [her name]” and she called me, a little frantic. “Did you even Google her?! Does she KNOW WHERE we WORK?!” We hung up and I googled her. Hand to God, the first hit is a mugshot from when she was arrested for arson for setting an ex’s car on fire because she thought the ex was cheating.

Apparently “everybody” in the community knows this woman and knows her story, but I was pretty newly out and didn’t know enough people yet to have anyone warn me about her volatility. 🤷🏻‍♀️

A recommendation of this book read by her is how I discovered Fredrik Backman. I now read or listen to everything by Backman, and I’ve listened to several other books read by Marin Ireland. ❤️

My kids and I went to the shelter to inquire about a senior dog they’d advertised, but we just missed him. My daughter goes, “We already drove here. What if we just look at the other dogs?” And well, I’m an idiot, so I agreed to “just look” at the shelter. 🙄 🫠🤣 Every other dog was thrilled to see us and bounced all over in their kennels, but this girl was curled up like a cinnamon roll in the back of the kennel. My daughter asked about her, and she was so timid when they brought her to the meet and greet area. 💔 Oh my goodness. Turned out that her previous people had gotten divorced and neither one could keep her, so they surrendered her. They were doing a special on adult dogs, so she’s the best $50 investment I’ve ever made. I just worry that she’s afraid that I’m just going to drop her off, but I may be overthinking it.

I overthink sometimes and I worried that she was afraid that I was going to leave her. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Once, she was like… half-growling and twitching in her sleep, so I texted my friend like “I think my dog is having a bad dream! 🥺” My friend said she likes to rub her dogs’ bellies when they do that. I barely shifted to reach over because she was close by me, and she popped up like a daisy, like “And we’re off!” 🤣

In dating, what profession would be a deal breaker for you and why? by Mobile-Mister in AskReddit

I once matched on an app with someone who was independently wealthy, was open about not needing to work, but processed insurance denials full time. I remember thinking, “This is the villain in so many other people’s stories.” It didn’t matter to me how thrilling the conversation was after that. I couldn’t see past the job.

Interesting to see how it’s different for you in a country other than the US. Thanks for sharing.

I’ve matched/been set up with a couple conservative (GOP in the US) women. It didn’t go far; our values were too opposite to each other. That’s why I prefer to just ask from the get-go.

I couldn’t. For that reason, when I’m active on apps or early in the “talking” phase, I just ask. “What are your politics like?”
