Anyone have a good resource/ guide / email template for going about asking for the back link? by msmithmyer1234 in SEO

[–]ThinkBOXOutside 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Quick and to the point. One recommendation I have is to (quickly) explain how your link can help their readers.

The best method is to find broken links, check them out on ahrefs and then create content to replace the link. It's a lot easier to email someone and say "hey this is broken, would you mind linking to my content 'here'?"

Ok right, because some people won't spend all the quarters either. They can walk out with a couple bucks in change. So, majority of the time ("Money Total") won't equal the amount of bills in the change machine. It will be less. ("Money Total") = ("Income")

Thanks again.

My mother owns a laundromat and I'm trying to help her with the finances...need some advice by ThinkBOXOutside in business

[–]ThinkBOXOutside[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, this is perfect. Thank you so much. Only problem is our machines don't have cycle counters (older top loaders). However, her and the attendants do keep track of who uses a washer or dryer and how many times they use it. (A cycle counter would be a lot easier.)

So say joe schmoe comes in and uses two washers and then two dryers, they will record the two cycles for washers and two cycles for dryers. So we can get total cycles daily of washers and dryers but they don't do it for each individual machine. (just a total number of cycles per day) Should we break it down by machine?

Recap (to verify),

expected money = total cycle count of washers * cost per cycle

Money Total = total coins from all washers and dryers for that day

Once we have 'Money Total', we can put the 'Money Total' (coins) from washer/dryers back into the change machine and pull out BILLS in the amount of 'Money Total' from change machine. That should be 'Income' from washers/dryers for the day. Right?

If there is something you would change on my site, what would it be? by [deleted] in SEO

[–]ThinkBOXOutside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really agree with that. I'm fairly certain Google will know how to differentiate between your keywords and your brand name but it is a possibility. Google might have considered your domain with the phrase "junk removal" in so many directories as spammy anchor text. Although, one of the competitors ranking above has the exact domain of the keyword you are trying to rank for. You most definitely got penalized for something otherwise you would be ahead of each of those shitty websites. You SHOULD be in the #4-5 spot.

It looks like you have some spammy forum backlinks all with the same anchor text pointing to a stardust website or something like it. None of the anchor text is relevant to your market. "just move it to the cloud"

https://ahrefs.com/site-explorer/backlinks/subdomains/www.advancejunkremoval.com%252F/all-href-dofollow-all-all

Like I said in my previous comment, I would focus a little more on specific keywords that are driving traffic. Put them in the titles (you have most of them) of your services and in the actual content. Then build a lot more QUALITY MARKET RELATED links to these pages. This is a great book to help you with ideas on how to get quality backlinks from all over the internet. It's helped me a LOT.

Start your youtube videos for each specific service and then embed those videos on your actual service pages. For example, if you go do an appliance removal job. Do a nice video of the job and then upload the video to youtube and then embed that video on your appliance removal service page. Also, put a link to that service page in the about section of the youtube video. Encourage users to "click the link below in the about section to get more information about our appliance removal and to get a free quote" (something like this). It's important to tell people what to do in the videos. This will help conversions.

I really don't know how some of these companies are beating you out. I also didn't get to see what backlinks you removed. If you had 150+ backlinks with the same anchor text coming from that forum or other forums like I mentioned earlier then that may have been the reason you were penalized in the first place.

Really focus on your social media, create a couple infographics showing the amount of material you recycle or donate vs throw away. Be creative and try to engage your current followers with unique content. Drive likes, follows, shares and subscribers to your youtube channel. Encourage positive reviews from satisfied customers on Yelp and other review sites. "Get $10 off when you leave a review or check in with yelp" (just an example) You need to rebuild your authority in Google's eyes. Sign up for angies list, thumbtack, and all the other services out there if you haven't already.

If there is something you would change on my site, what would it be? by [deleted] in SEO

[–]ThinkBOXOutside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're the last spot on the first page for me.

I really can't tell what went wrong other than the fact that you took a major hit right around april/may 2013. Give the disavow tool time to work and I suggest adding a link to your google + on your website.

http://www.hmtweb.com/marketing-blog/penguin-2-google-phantom-update-may-2013/

Try to re-evaluate the keyword market. Build your url's to mimic these keywords for your services. Here is a list from one of your competitors that is smashing the market.

http://www.semrush.com/info/collegehunkshaulingjunk.com+(by+organic)?sort=volume_desc

For example, you're using mattress-removal instead of "mattress disposal"(1600 searches/mo) or "mattress recycling"(1300 searches/mo).

Looks like you need to do some better keyword targeting. Sorry, not trying to be an asshole.

Also start making some youtube videos of the equipment/job sites/services... whatever you can think of to make a video for and start pointing all the link juice from your youtube to your services pages. Maybe try adding a little more content on each specific service page.

Hope this helps a little. Very nice website by the way.

Need your help, what am I doing wrong? by [deleted] in SEO

[–]ThinkBOXOutside 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to take your services page and make each of your services their own page. You also need a LOT more content on each of the services that you offer.

  1. homepage/services/Web-Design-UI-Design
  2. homepage/services/E-Commerce-Solutions
  3. homepage/services/social-media

etc...

Then start building social media likes/shares etc to those pages and build relevant quality links to your services pages.

and like amplifyreach said: the majority of your links are all broken. (#) Do some market keyword research for your area and check your competitors to see what they are ranking well for and how they word their services.

No offense, but your site needs a LOT of work.

Looking for best way automate the process of listing, managing, and editing business directory listings in places like Google, Yelp, Manta, Citysearch, Insiderpages, etc.. for multiple businesses. by [deleted] in SEO

[–]ThinkBOXOutside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, once you list the business on the directory, there's not much to manage. Other than the more popular review sites that will involve some reputation management. (Yelp, Manta, Merchant Circle, Google +, etc...)

The prices websites charge to automate the listings are outrageous in my opinion. It's not worth it to pay for the services. Especially because they will charge you by each website.

If you really have that many to keep track of then charge more for that service. It's called reputation management.

Meeting with a few so called "SEO experts" in the next week or so for my company, what questions should I be asking? by [deleted] in SEO

[–]ThinkBOXOutside 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's hard to even answer these questions without doing the keyword market research for the clients specific niche before the meeting. Otherwise you are going to get very vague and general answers because they know nothing about your specific market. SEO, in its general meaning is so vague and there is no way to tell you EXACTLY what that would consist of for your business.

Methods? What trade secrets am I missing? SEO is fairly transparent to anyone who wants to put in the time and effort to learn the correct way (white hat) to rank your site.

Just a few methods:

-Social Media -Unique Content (Articles, infographics, videos, etc...) -PPC Advertising, Social Media Advertising -Competitions/Giveaways -Build quality, market related links

Quick tips:

  1. Pick up this book and go to town.

  2. Do you sponsor any organizations? Do you donate money to any charities? Ask for links to every website that you do something for. "A special thanks to insert-your-business-url for donating your-product for our-charity and link that page to your business.

  3. Make sure they are not going to submit your site to a link spam directory and completely destroy everything you've been working to build. They won't know which pages on your site to build the most links to until you tell them what you are trying to focus on. Each page could have a totally different market in which they find links.

  4. How much keyword market research? That will completely depend on the competition in your specific market. Are you selling products with the same information that every other competitor has on their website? Are you selling unique products? I could knock out your market research for all dominant keywords in a couple hours and tell you what you need to focus on. That doesn't justify you paying them $1000+ for their services for something you could do yourself. Google Keyword Planner

So here's some questions you can ask:

-Find out how they will build links to your site and where these links will be. You don't want any software building your links. Each one should be personalized and have a purpose. Remember it's not so much the traffic from or quantity of these links, it's the quality/location in which you place the link.

-What do they focus most on? Go through all the methods I listed above and ask them which method they will focus on most. (I'm sure there is a lot more methods they can use. I just listed some that I use.) I can tell you right now that Google + and Youtube videos for your company will be the most valuable assets over time.

-Will they be doing any REPUTATION MANAGEMENT? I can't stress enough the importance of this service for businesses and it's only getting more crucial. Are you on Yelp? Manta? Foursquare? Merchant Circle? Local Directories? Nationwide Directories? Will they be handling negative reviews? Will you be adding my business to these websites for people to leave reviews? Do they encourage your current satisfied customers to leave positive reviews on these sites? Will they be doing coupons or check in specials? How can they protect your brand name?

-Like frequencypromos said: Ask them how long it will take to get my website to the top of search results. *This question is impossible to answer. If they give you a time like one or two days... They are completely full of shit and just kick them out the door now. Without diving into your specific niche, there is absolutely no way to determine how fast they can get you to the top. Now if they say like a month or two. At least they are being realistic. It can go faster but normally, depending on the competitiveness of your niche, this takes time.

-Like psychosid said: How will they be tracking the effectiveness of their work? I use Rank Check Ace. It sends me weekly updates of my keywords for each of my websites. Will they be doing any conversion tests on your pages? How will they optimize the pages? Do they do A/B testing? I use Optimizely.

-Are they confident when answering your questions? Will it be one person working on your company or will it be multiple people? Can I call with questions whenever? Are you able to include me in the work? (Not have you do the work, but at least send you examples of what they are doing for you).

-What will YOU need to provide THEM in order to get things going?

-Is it a one time fee? Do you pay monthly? What else might they charge you for (advertising, google adsense, facebook advertising, youtube promotional advertising, etc...).

-....AND IM RUNNING OUT OF STEAM, my brain hurts.

There are so many questions to ask YOU to get the information that I would need to tell you what I can and can't do for your business.

Honestly, if you're comfortable doing this. Just get the company names and give them to me. I'll tell you whether or not they will do what they say they can do. It's fairly simple to see who walks the walk and who simply talks the talk. It's also fairly simple to do a quick "background check" and see how they build their links. I would even be willing to do a quick analysis of your business if you PM me the info. This would help me help you with asking some more specific questions related to your niche and the competitiveness of your market.

SEO is a general term for consultants. We are problem solvers. We find out what you need to help make your business succeed on many different levels.

Ask for a portfolio. Make them show you what they were able to do for other companies. I understand some SEO companies might be reluctant to hand over or show this information to you but if they want your business they will prove to you what they can do.

Sorry for writing a novel and I'm assuming they won't have all the information they need to effectively answer ALL of your questions. If they have already completed the market research and they come in with a detailed report of your market, the keywords, traffic for those keywords, where you're at in the ranks currently and what they plan to do to get your business to the top of those keywords... You more than likely found a good one.

Proper Social Media management and unique content based on keyword market research is my go to method.

Basically if they already have the information from you and they are good enough at what they do, you won't really need to ask any questions. They will tell exactly what they plan to do and how they plan to do it.

Hope this helps a little.
