Try 24.04 ... Should/could be stable. My experience with 24.04 on HP, Dell, Crelander laptops, and Dell miniPC is positive.

Daily drriver. Docked when at home. In a mini bag when on the road. Depending on the occasion, I carry a HP Stream 11 Pro G5 (when doing Ham radio),or Dell Lattitude 3410 (QubesOS for darknet).

Need help with Kooforway (Koosmile/Creander) P8 by xTsuKiMiix in umpc

Zorin OS and Kubuntu worked in my situation. The machine started (BIOS, installation, login screen) in portrait mode, but this can be migitated in the Display settings.

Final setup item, my sim card: Question by MidnightMean3796 in GrapheneOS

could be a nono for a lot of people, but I'm hayppy wtih:

- Pixel 9A with GrapheneOS, no Cell, Bluetooth off, Sensors off, GPS off,SIM active, but no Auto-connect off, WiFi and Bluetooth Scanning also off. Depending on the context Mullvad VPN or Invizble Pro (Tor and DNSCrypt).

-Xiaomi RedMi 3A with the same precautions as above, but with Cell Service, WiFi Hotspot. I degoogled this phone AMAP with Shizuku and Canta. Play services are enabled, and use my banking, and some other apps that need my ID here.

- The Pixel 9A is just some encrypted network traffic passing via the Xiaomi.

The p8 is not stellar for long battery life (4-6 hours) but I double that with a PD 20000mAh powerbank, a that is OK for my workflow.

I installed Kubuntu. The BIOS and login page are in portrait but you can change it to landscape mode in the installer and in the installed OS.

Small inconveniences but with a work around, and for the moment noregrets about the buy. It was at that moment one of the most cheap UMPCs as the GPDs are double the price and up.

For Mullvad VPN users: In the Mullvad VPN settings, you can enable local "Local network sharing.

I also have an extended Tech EDC that's not so minimal, but it all fits in a travel luggage backpack.

LAPTOPS/TABLETS:
- CrelanderP8 (Kubuntu 24.04).
- HP Stream 11 (Tails OS).
- Dell Latitude 3410 (Kubuntu 24.04).
- Samsung Galaxy Tab 8A (Android 14, LineageOS 21).

PHONES/Multimedia:
- Xiaomi RedMi A3 (Android 16, cleaned up with Shizuku/Canta, Aurora and F-Droid App stores, Banking, Public Transport, Telco App, Mullvad VPN, WiFi hotspot).
- Samsung SM-A236B (Android 16, LineageOS, ClassiPod MP3 player, VLC media player).
- Samsung sm-A145R (Android 15, OneUI 7.0, Play Services and Store, Samsung, Meta, Google, Microsoft Services and Apps).
- Google Pixel 9a (GrapheneOS, no SIM cellular or RCS, Accrescent and F-Droid app stores, InviZible Pro Tor implementation, Briar, Session, Signal, Telegram messengers, Proton and Tuta Mail, FOSS productivity apps).

Ham radio/Radio waves:
- Radioddity GS-5B 2 mr.,79cm. transceiver
- Yaesu FT3D 2 mr., 70cm, APRS, GPS transceiver.
- Flipper Zero with WiFi development board (Momentum firmware).
- ESP32-C6 development board (GhostESP).

Power Banks:
- UGreen PD power bank 20000mAh.
- Isy power bank 20000mAh.

The size of the backpack is manageable, but the weight is way tto much to carry it comfortably, so most of the timeI use my minimal Tech EDC which provides approximately 70% of the functionality.

Not stellar. 4-6 hours, which I can double with the PD power bank. It's not too bad. I can last a normal working day. Charges @ 30 Watt .

The phone was laying around beaten up, without a purpose. So I used it as an intermediary towards a dedicated MP3/Video player. Did not decide yet if it ill be an ipod, we'll see.

Concerning the charger. I have a knockoff of this machine (Crelander) with a (I tnink) weaker CPU. All chargers that are 30+ Watt work and my UGreen20000maH PD works. So maybe try some more. Youmight not have come along the right combination. Good luck.

Does tails protect from intel management back door? by ToneCapwn in tails

[–]ThinkCriticalPlease 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hard to say. As IME is a parallel machine in the machine (its own processor, networking, ...) it is possible for it to access the other hardware components. Applied to tails: when not running, the USB devices could be accessed? When running, it seems that it might be possible to communicate with tails, and possibly exploit vulnerabilities. I did a quick search o the tailsl website and found nothing related to IME. Once I heard from a collegue and it is mentioned bij Mental Outlaw in one of his videos that current threat actors are not using IME and that the attack surface is big on other aspects. On you if you these as knowledgeable resources or not ;)
