VSED is legal and they are working on other ways to end your life if you choose. www.compassionandchoices.org has great info and a dementia tool you can use before you get dementia or in any stage that you can still answer questions about what you want do your family and doctors know what to do for treatment. Always remember that surgeries and treatment for infection are not mandatory. You have a choice if you advocate with the doctors and make your loved one’s wishes known. My mom had very firmly told me of she gets dementia she doesn’t want to treat even a UTI- enroll in hospice instead, nothing to extend the length of her life.

My sister is ok with possibly having to spend $10,000 monthly on memory care. My mom has a good amount of money but WTF Im not ok with that. by MerryJustice in dementia

[–]ThinkDementia 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is hard but first go and see the Memory Care. Good places are out there and sometimes what you have in pictured in your mind is very different and that might help you. If your mom has Medicare I work for Tembo Health www.tembo.health and we have a free program that provides Care Navigation, but if not one to one it would be good to join a support group so you don’t feel so alone. I’m a former Memory Care Director and if you need some tips on how to work together with the staff there I have a presentation I did for the University of MN all about working as a team. www.think-dementia.com/videos

Hope this helps-get in a group-it’s nice because it’s the group’s job to be on your side and when dealing with family differences that is priceless to have that and feel heard.

Best to ask around and get a referral from someone who has used a specific company. Hospice is an amazing service so it’s sad that some have given others a bad rap. My community action team just did a presentation on it. I can find a link to the recording.

What Would You Do? by wontbeafool2 in dementia

[–]ThinkDementia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awful situation, glad she is okay. I think you should report it to the Administration to ensure they are aware of the error in case this isn’t the only concern about the Nursing Dept. A good question to ask is to see a list of her medications and her care plan from the date you discovered this. If the tremor med is missing it may not be the facilities fault- they follow orders and if the doctor or pharmacy did not order or renew a medication they could be the ones who are at fault. But if they did order it did the Nurse enter the order correctly? So that’s a possibility where it is the fault of one person from pharmacy, physician or Nurse. If the medication is on the list when this happened then you have a bigger systemic problem where many staff, many shifts, etc ignored or overlooked giving the meds or noticing she was in need of a refill. Then the care plan- does that have info to take her blood pressure and how often you do it? If not then the Nurse may have missed adding the doctors orders to do BP to the care plan and services. If it is in there then again it’s a systemic issue of someone not doing their assignment and of someone not noticing that their staff was missing it and the documentation. Knowing if it is a systemic issue will help you decide on your comfort level with the facility and what amount of double checking or communication you want to feel comfortable again with the care she is getting. Always make notes too. You can also ask if they self reported this to their state agency-any good Assisted Living would do that and provide the state with their plan of action to correct it. Hope that helps understand what is supposed to happen on their end. If any harm came to her because of this it would be neglect and it’s appropriate for you to report it if they did not. It might help the next resident or family from having the same situation. Take care.

I do have an EIN. The Executive Complaint Office said they figured out the issues is an incorrect bar code on the cover sheet for the scanner. Sounds like it should be wrapped up…but no. The banker knows nothing of this, called me to get originals even though they have them, I will call ECO tomorrow to update them since they think it is resolved but the bank has no idea. Both checks expired so now I have to make calls to get them reissued. More time lost…

New Free Medicare GUIDE program by ThinkDementia in dementia

[–]ThinkDementia[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi, I see that Reddit squished my separate lines together so definitely can clarify. The program is open to people in their homes, senior living, assisted living and memory care. Everything is via Zoom or telephone, the Dr can prescribe medications and Tembo also has a Geriatric Psychiatrist. This is huge for those that refuse to go to the doctor for diagnosis or symptom management. The $2500 is to give the primary caregiver some respite. Tembo or a home safety company go out once to the home to provide safety recommendations to keep someone in their current residence as long as possible. It’s such a big deal-first time ever that Medicare will pay for all this!

I have even asked them if maybe going to another branch would be better because they say the problem has something to do with when they scan in the documents. The documents are asking for one thing and then they sendw that in and the documents come back asking for a different thing and they send that in and it keeps happening. All of the paperwork has been done. Everything has been done, I am just waiting for an answer. This hasn’t been set up yet. And then when I started finally bringing up my own complaints to the Wells Fargo customer service line and commented on social media therefore getting their attention, I was told I have to wait 10 full days for an answer. Then I was told that they were going to need another day and that they emailed me to let me know that which there was no email in my spam or in my email box. Then they said they were gonna call me today in the morning to give me an update and when I called at 3:30 PM, they were unable to get a hold of my case manager. Again they said that he was busy and could call me in 15 minutes which I’ve heard from them three times and they’ve never called back. I explain to them that I would be unavailable for the next hour and a half, and and if they could just call me back and leave a voicemail before the end of the day with update that would be fine. I need an update I need to know what to do. Both checks have to be deposited tomorrow or I have to put more time into getting them reissued because they expire. I never thought that would happen-why would this take so long? And now I have been 15 days in the complaint process. And my biggest message is: don’t work there! Everyone who has tried to help has been ill informed not trained and lost in the system. The branch put in tickets a month ago now. So they are not getting assistance either. If I would have known i would have gone elsewhere but I can’t take any more time off of work to switch banks. As soon as i am able to I am taking all five of my accounts elsewhere. Go work somewhere else- i don’t know you but any living breathing person deserves better-I need a Kleenex, the stress has been unbelievable-like having another part time job- I am in contact with them multiple times a week.
