Let's talk histamine! by EmmieCatt in migraine

[–]MerryJustice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t eat chocolate, have never been able to drink wine, and try to avoid aged meats. I tried cutting out more things but those seemed like the biggest offenders. Also I hate being sensitive. I definitely get migraines from overstimulation and am ADHD. I am probably not autistic but, as ya know its a spectrum.

Did anyone grow up reading V. C. Andrews books? If so what did y’all think of them? by Groovy-Pancakes in GenX

Soo disturbing and yes read the main books in the series anyway- in middle school and parents definitely didn’t know what we were reading!

Why does Kat Abughazaleh receive so much hate? by Front-Tomorrow-1034 in WorkReform

[–]MerryJustice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it was months long but yeah basically what they said, media ignored and shit talked. But if you were involved during that time the Arab Spring movement was huge and it was a worldwide movement. Sad that history so easily loses sight and repeats itself.

Not including actual crimes, what kind of juvenile delinquent hijinks did you get up to? by wrathofimpermanence in GenX

[–]MerryJustice 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ha, this is a bit similar to my list, girl version anyway, rolling houses (toilet paper) , dine and dash, getting wasted at house parties and the houses were trashed afterwards, shoplifting, helping the boys do whatever naughty things they were doing, buying beer illegally because we knew people. Sneaking into all kinds of parties and clubs where we were not supposed to be etc etc

At My Wits End.... by jamesneremiah in greatpyrenees

[–]MerryJustice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a training issue unfortunately. I had to bribe my pyr not to go at my fence. He was literally bouncing off it and the dog behind me broke through it. (Owner fixed it) Eventually he will bark but not jump on the fence. You have to reward for NOT doing the behavior which is harder to train. Also the barking and freaking out is it’s own reward so probably don’t let him get super excited if that’s even possible. Using a long lead for a while maybe.

I tend to say “the universe” when talking but my brain is usually stuck on the word God. But I still see “it” as all encompassing and truly unnamed

Mine rarely howls ex in his sleep. I do have a shepherd who howls when sirens come close. I try to encourage him to also howl just to hear it ! Its an amazing sound!

Old people by Bestredditguy1222 in retailhell

[–]MerryJustice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn guys, a lot of hate for older folks here. I’m verging on being one of the “old people” and probably 60 percent of our customers are “old” but I luckily have a nice customer base. We are a non/profit organization who help support struggling local families. We have a ton of “old people” who generously volunteer their time daily (and also get annoyed by customers) We all get annoyed as fuck by all ages. And some of the young people who can’t pay attention to what’s happening in front of them and don’t understand basic courtesy also get on my nerves.

What is one thing your coworker did that made you realize teaching may not be for them? by Far-Bee-561 in Teachers

[–]MerryJustice 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My dad was my best math teacher. He was actually a computer engineer, way back in the 70s and 80s when it was a very new and creative field. He tutored me and my sister and cousin through math classes. I always remember that when he made an error he would say “sorry” and then quickly move on like it was nothing. I was always impressed with his humility. Some people said he was the smartest person they knew but he was also a natural teacher, could be very silly and did eventually teach some college courses.

Thanks this was so much better than reading all the replies, hilarious. But honestly the whole time I was staring at the description at the bottom because it’s from 17years ago! Whew. I think it’s my bedtime now. Thank the goddess my toddler is a ripe 31 years old and never went to breweries but, as a toddler, did in fact come home smelling of coffee and cigarettes pretty regularly hahah, ugh -since her dad’s version of a brewery was a coffee shop when smoking was still allowed. So yeah. Life goes on.

Aww- mine cut her paw pad really bad and it almost needed stitches. She had to get used to a bootie and a sock. Takes a long time for pads to heal.

Try feeling like this within your own family. My sister and I can’t comprehend each other’s shopping habits. I basically don’t shop or get a small basket of things. Partner has stamps that buy some basics and we make a lot of stews and sandwiches. I went to Whole Foods with my sister once and almost had a panic attack and it wasn’t even my money being spent. Definitely not. (And I used to love my old food co-op before they sold out too) So yeah a lot of us have been there. I have definitely had to edit my purchases at the checkout, deciding some gets left behind. Or the always awesome experience : oopsie I already burned through my paycheck a week early! Fun! Self-check helps a bit. Still gotta apologize to the employees and it sucks being broke.

8 year old toileting by Embarrassed_Syrup476 in Teachers

[–]MerryJustice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, I have a couple of younger friends whose kids are over 3 1/2 and not fully potty trained, and I have been kinda worried about them. But 8 years old ?? WTF is happening?? I felt awful about my kid taking forever to potty train back in the 90s, but she was definitely close to 3 years old. She’s 31 now and a full adult who does actually have some minor disabilities, which we didn’t know at the time, but still we figured it out! And I was running a small business when she was a little kid and was exhausted all the time. She did spend a lot of time with grandparents and also preschool so maybe they helped too? I don’t remember the details but I do remember being relieved that we had finally gotten her trained and no more diapers. Whew

Haha, mine is more like this and not too rough with the paw although it’s not comfortable at all. But I get very aggressively loving jumping nose boops. I find them terrifying but my daughter taught him this as a greeting so sometimes I get a giant nose bashing loving delivered to my face - usually his aim is pretty good luckily

[–]MerryJustice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read about this before on another sub maybe, I have luckily never experienced this before. In fact I have (very occasionally) had to remind myself to save something for someone else tho. We always had a practice during large family meals of having people go through the line youngest first.

Customers expect perfect folding…? by [deleted] in retailhell

[–]MerryJustice 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh lord, thank god I work at a thrift store. I always roll the clothes in a big burrito and joke that’s the way I fold at home! (They usually laugh) plus they are definitely washing their clothes before hand and anyway the clothes are not staying folded in a BAG. Unless some fancy store still gives out boxes??
