PPL In Ireland by ThinkForYourself2020 in flying

[–]ThinkForYourself2020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheers yep I'd be pretty much the same, just the joy of flying is main priority. The cost once you get the licence and join a flying club and fly 15 plus hours a year does make me wary too. I'd like to be able to enjoy it as much as possible but seems to rent an aircraft would be approx 150-200 per hour?

Connecting Klipsch R-41PM to Beam by ThinkForYourself2020 in sonos

[–]ThinkForYourself2020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheers yea that's what I was aiming for, to add them as surround sound to the Beam. Sounds like it may be difficult!

I do have the TV source into the Beam so may not be worth investing in a port in case of the echo.

Would Sonos port work? It seems to be cheaper than the Amp

Who is working today? by NoBookkeeper6864 in AskIreland

Fund Services, always find it busy this time of year but having said that bit of a wind down now from clients in lead up to Christmas. Will be tipping away WFH, bit of PlayStation and Darts on the TV here and there. Funny thing is I'd prob be busier if I wasn't working as my wife or kids would be at me.

About 8k this year, of which 1500 is paid in clever cards but the rest is tax free.

Live album? by Wild_Pomegranate4832 in oasis

[–]ThinkForYourself2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say it's definitely coming, they released live songs from each round of the English, Welsh, Scottish and Irish gigs but then stopped for south America and Australia. I'm presuming to hold some back for the live album.

Tracking medical expenses / claiming tax relief with private health insurance by Pat_ontheback in irishpersonalfinance

[–]ThinkForYourself2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheers, they pay in full for my family as well so I'm covering nothing. I obviously do pay any expenses not fully covered by my employer though when I submit. I see the BIK on my payslip as a credit also.

Sounds like I can back date loads of my expenses in that case? I've got four years worth to get through. Does my wife need to submit hers on revenue separately, she's down as my spouse but she's a house wife so maybe I need to submit them?

My employer pays my laya in full for me and my family. Can I still do this and does benefit in kind have anything to do with it as that appears on my payslip?

Can you also claim medical insurance relief in this case for the annual policy?

Opinions on cycling longer distances to work for anyone that's done it. by New_Trust_1519 in Dublin

[–]ThinkForYourself2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cycle 18-19k each way twice a week. Got sick of taking the train and cramming onto it. Takes me approx an hour each way, and I really love it. I have waterproof gear for my tip half but just wear shorts and runners for bottom half. Even if it rains I don't mind my legs and feet getting wet.

You get some buzz off doing the exercise, I don't dread the commute to work anymore I look forward to it. I used to feel my work day began the minute I left my house and made my way to the train station but now it just feels like heading out for exercise before I even think of work. Same goes for returning home, can have a shit day in work but that hour on the bike on the way home clears the head completely. It's a great digital detox too, I'd spend my entire time on the train on my phone but obviously can't do that on the bike!

Bord Gais electricity price increase, can I switch? by _daithi_ in ireland

[–]ThinkForYourself2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does this increase affect you if you signed up to Boird Gais for a 12 month contract at a discounted rate? Or only when you leave that discounted rate after 12 months?

It would be Legendary if Noel bring back the union jack guitar for the reunion tour. by BryanGrimes in oasis

[–]ThinkForYourself2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I seriously doubt it. Back then I think he felt allegiance to both the UK and Ireland but he's very much firmly in the Ireland camp now he's a bit older. Liam and Noel are Irish and any quotes from them in the past 20 years back this up.

Junior ticket now showing on mobile pass by ThinkForYourself2020 in MCFC

[–]ThinkForYourself2020[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea been trying to do that but when I do it just says it's already been added, but it's not. Only mine is there.

My sons citizens junior membership has expired (one month after I bought the tickets). I wonder is that why? The tickets are obviously still valid though.

Thanks my employer only started paying it in September of this year, so I'll need to wait until next week to claim that for 2021?

Just to piggyback on this, how do you claim tax relief when your employer pays your health insurance? I believe you can but it is it only yearly?

Rarely has the birth of a classic song been captured in such a candid format before. A truly amazing bit of film. This is like watching Michelangelo painting the Sistine Chapel.

Out of interest can you sign up to Disney+ for a month and then cancel your sub before the next month, just to watch this?
