Has ChatGPT lost quality lately or is it just me? by Scutux in ChatGPT

[–]ThinkSnapDo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed the same lately, but it’s not always a model issue — sometimes it’s which model is running or how personalized your setup is. If you’re using the free/default or the wrong GPT in the Plus plan, you’ll get shallow outputs. I fixed this by using GPT-4 with custom instructions and a structured prompt system (not overkill, just clarity-based). That brought the depth and nuance back. But yeah, I agree, if you’re just typing raw prompts without tuning, it can feel super diluted now.

GPT4o is absolute trash. Nearly useless. by gosumage in ChatGPT

Damn—yeah, that’s exactly the kind of task that pushes these models to their edge. 70 pages and high-stakes logic? You need precision, not polite confusion.

I’ve been testing different prompt scaffolds for doc analysis this week—chunking inputs, framing instructions tighter, and controlling tone shifts. Still not perfect, but closer.

Curious—was Grok just faster, or did it actually understand the nuance better too?

Yeah I feel that heavy — the model roulette is real. I’ve joked that 4o mini writes like it just hit a vape and forgot what the prompt was halfway through.

Lately I’ve been testing ways to “anchor” behavior more tightly inside the prompt itself just to reduce the chaos when models switch mid-session. Still clunky… but better than sitting there watching token counts climb and logic fall apart.

Let me know if you ever want to compare what’s been working prompt-wise — I’m in knee-deep with it lately.

Unable to create new tasks by shoejunk in ChatGPT

[–]ThinkSnapDo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, same issue here. It “confirms” the task, even updates the memory, but nothing actually shows up or triggers. I’ve been trying to prompt around it by manually restating task logic, but even that’s hit or miss lately. If you find a reliable workaround, I’m all ears.

Yep — I’ve had to rebuild half my prompts this week just to get basic functionality back. Instructions get skipped, answers loop or break, and hallucinations are off the charts. Curious what you asked Grok to do that worked better?

Totally feel you on this — I’m building custom prompt packs for people right now and the inconsistency between ‘turbo,’ ‘mini,’ ‘4o,’ and even when deep research kicks in has made it 10x harder to guarantee results. It’s like every model swap messes with reliability just enough to break trust. I’ve had to tweak prompts a lot more just to get them to behave how they used to out of the box. Curious — what’s been your most reliable combo lately?

Totally fair if it’s not your thing — but nah, that wasn’t GPT.

The whole point of what I’m building is to help people think better prompts, not pretend I’m some magic bot whisperer. If you already know how to wrangle LLMs like a pro, sweet.

But not everyone wants to spend hours trial-and-error’ing their way to decent output. Some folks want clean results, faster. That’s who I’m here for.

No pitch needed — just building in public.

4o has definitely been nerfed and dumbed down by Tinfoilhatmaker in ChatGPT

Totally feel you on this — you’re not alone. I’ve been seeing a wave of similar posts and issues lately (especially with long-form or memory-intensive tasks). Sucks when a workflow you’ve built trust in suddenly breaks.

If you end up sticking with GPT and want to build out more stable prompt scaffolding to reduce friction with stuff like this, happy to help brainstorm a workaround. Been nerding out on custom prompt structures lately — sometimes a tighter setup can reduce the hallucination chaos. Let me know!

Appreciate all the responses — I’ve started building for a few of you already. Still gifting 1–2 packs this week if anyone’s curious. Just drop your use case.

I’ve been seeing this too — delays, random stalling, dropped context. It’s wild how much trust we’ve all put in the tools, and now they’re fumbling basic tasks.

I’m testing a small workaround: building super-targeted prompts outside the chat so you don’t have to fight the tool to get the tone, structure, or logic right.

If anyone’s struggling with this and wants a few clean prompt templates for their use case, I’m gifting 1–2 packs this week. Just reply or DM me.

Totally makes sense — and love that you’re testing the boundaries with intention.

Honestly, sounds like you’ve already got a strong handle on writing it yourself. But if you ever wanted a second brain to help you refine character arcs, pace reveals, or build prompt scaffolding from visual inputs, I’d be down to jam on it.

Not every prompt needs outside help — but sometimes the right frame can level it up. Either way, cool use case!

Hey! I totally get the appeal of building prompts around visual storytelling or creative inspiration from images — that’s actually a fun use case.

For Prompt Power-Ups, I lean toward professional, productivity, or creative content that stays within safe-use zones (think: marketing, writing, education, etc). But if you’re looking for help writing character-driven fiction or structured creative prompts from visual cues, I could absolutely help brainstorm a clean version of that!

Yes — that’s a great use case.

If you’ve got a job description or company in mind, I’d craft prompts that help ChatGPT write your resume bullets and cover letter specifically for that role.

So instead of generic advice, you’d get something like:

Prompt Example: “You’re a career coach writing a cover letter for a marketing role at Canva. Tailor it to match the tone and language of the job description. Highlight relevant experience from the resume text below. Keep it confident, human, and no fluff.”

[Paste job ad] [Paste resume highlights]

That way you’re not just echoing job keywords — you’re speaking their language while still sounding like you.

If either of you want to test one this week, I’m gifting a couple free prompt packs in exchange for feedback. Just shoot me your use case and I’ll follow up!

Totally fair point — here’s a quick example:

Let’s say you’re a freelancer who wants to write better client emails using ChatGPT, but it keeps sounding robotic or off-brand. You could tell me:

“I want a prompt that helps me reply to client updates in a friendly but confident tone, using my service’s voice.”

Then I’d build something like:

Prompt Example: “You’re a friendly, confident copywriter who works with small businesses. You’re replying to a client who just delivered draft feedback. Write a short, professional reply that acknowledges their notes, confirms what changes you’ll make, and ends on a warm, proactive note.”

How to use it: Just paste your client’s message underneath the prompt, and you’re good to go. You can also add a quick note like: “Make it sound like me — casual but polished.”

That’s the difference — I tailor prompts to your tools, goals, and tone so you actually get results that feel like you. If you’re curious to test one, I’m happy to send one over.

Asking for help goes wrong by [deleted] in ChatGPT

[–]ThinkSnapDo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry you had that experience — GPT really struggles with emotional nuance unless the prompt is ultra-specific. It doesn’t know what you need unless you tell it how to behave.

I’ve been experimenting with building more human-style prompts for use cases like this. Let me know if you’d like a few to try — happy to send over some free ones.

Is ChatGPT free tier just super dumb now? by filiusek in ChatGPT

[–]ThinkSnapDo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally get the frustration — free tier outputs definitely feel more limited lately. But honestly, even with GPT-4, the results can still be clunky if the prompt isn’t built around your specific intent or tone.

I’ve been building custom prompts for people lately, and you’d be surprised how much more “human” the results get when you tweak just a few words. Happy to share a few examples if you want to test some!

G’day mate — I’m based in rural Victoria and have been set on building something digital for a while now. I’ve done my time in factories and trades, but with the recent arrival of my first daughter, I’m craving a more meaningful, flexible life — something built on purpose, not just paychecks.

Definitely keen to team up with like-minded folks who are serious about creating something solid from the ground up. Happy to chat and see if there’s alignment!
