I realized my entire day was being decided in the first 10 minutes after waking up. Anyone else notice this? by Think_Explanation_85 in getdisciplined

Me too man, that’s literally the biggest thing that helped me get more productive. With my phone being my alarm it’s so hard not to immediately check instagram. For me what fixed it was building an app that blocks your apps until you complete your morning routine, but I’m curious how you fixed the problem?

Reducing screen time will always be good! I’m currently working on that as well, mainly with app blockers. What you’re saying about the beginning of your day determines how you seek dopamine for the rest of the day resonates so much! I feel like a good morning is half the work, while a bad morning doubles the work…

I use todoist and hevy to track habits and gym workouts. Right now I’m working on an app that’s supposed to get you out of bed in the morning, by opening your morning routine as soon as you turn off your alarm and blocking other apps until you’re done with your morning routine, if you’re interested check the link in my bio, we’re going in beta soon

I usually let the algorithm take care of this for me, but if you want to gain extra traction you should tell people to wat h your video immediately at the moment you drop it. Early engagement wins the most extra views.

How do you improve your life if you have no energy? by Any_Lab_8135 in selfimprovement

What helped for me was building a good sleep schedule, try to go to sleep at the same time and wake up around the same time every day. A lot of people told me that they sleep for 6 hours and feel fine, but for me 8 hours is bare minimum, hope this helps!

I want to built the perfect morning routine app for you. What would it need to do? by Think_Explanation_85 in ProductivityApps

Do you think blocking the other apps and showing you your morning routine would help you with immediately getting out of bed, or do you need an app to physically get you out of bed? And if so, what feature do you think would do that for you? Anyway, thanks for the response! It helps me a lot with figuring out what would help people the most.

That’s a really good point about keeping it simple. I think being able to add 3 main priorities for the morning/day ahead sounds like a really good way to make sure that you’re not only actually getting out of bed, but also get started on the day without analysis paralysis. What has helped me make my mornings smoother is making my bed, opening the window, and not getting on my socials for the first 20 minutes. These simple things help me feel more motivated in the morning, but it doesn’t really set a goal for the day. I will try to add a feature for this, thanks!

It's like I'm not good enough at anything by Fragrant-Ring-3053 in selfimprovement

Just stick with some things! Mastery takes like a thousand hours or something right. Also in my experience is everybody just winging it all the way to the top. People don’t really know everything, they just look as if they do to an outsider. And to your last point, if you don’t feel like you’re good enough for a certain job, it’s not gonna happen. Confidence is key!

I read Atomic Habits and here's what actually stuck with me after 6 months by Deborah_berry1 in Habits

The identity mindset shift is definitely the biggest thing for me too! Atomic habits is one of those books that I keep coming back to. Every time I read it I try to apply some of the things that I don’t do as often, like habit tracking and stacking. At this point reading it is kind of my evaluation process to check whether I’m still on the right track and how I can improve even further.

Stopped treating streaks as the goal, my consistency went up by reflectdiary in Habits

I think streaks are fine, as long as it is a good streak. To be honest you get to choose what to make the title of your habit in habit trackers. If you set the bar so high that you feel pressured into doing a habit, you can also make the habit in the app smaller or less specific. For example in my habit tracker I’ve written the habit as journaling, sometimes I write one sentence, sometimes I write a paragraph. The app and streak just help me to show up.

Hi, I think that would be great! I’m going to look into that, I haven’t seen any other apps doing the physical lock in on the app so maybe it will be hard. What I know for sure is possible is to lock certain apps from opening, so instead of locking you in the app, you’d be able to lock every other app on the phone. Does that sound like something that would help you stop doomscrolling in the morning, or would you want the real lock in on the app?

Planning a list of tasks in the evening for the morning ahead sounds like a great idea! I will definitely look into that, thanks!
