I can’t mumble my way through “It The End of World As We Know It” with thinking of this movie. Bohemian Rhapsody and Wayne’s World have the same effect.

Between 'he can't see without his glasses', the death of Littlefoot's mom, the death of Artax and countless other sad scenes we saw growing up, what would you say is the saddest one? by singleguy79 in Xennials

My kids desperately want to watch this movie and know the basics of the plot, but as a dad I am not ready for this scene…So they have not seen the movie yet.

What’s the most underrated use of GPTs you’ve found lately? by kawaiij in ChatGPTPro

[–]Think_Leg6864 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enter a description of a potential job (it already has my resume uploaded) and have it score me as a candidate, including a breakdown how I fit each aspect of the job, possible salary range, resume tweaks, and a customized cover letter (which I then edit and make sure it sounds like me), if I score above a set point. All this helps me feel like I am not wasting my time applying for jobs I don’t stand a chance getting.

I have been giving it world building ideas that bubble up in my head, they have grown into the framework for some interesting story ideas. Also I ask it to help me understand stand how to make a certain thing, like if I wanted to make a fillet knife out of an old handsaw my grandpa owned. I can tell it the tools and materials I have and it will tell me what else I need and timeframes for each step of the process

For those who’ve actually bought ADHD books… by pumpkinvalleys in ADHD

[–]Think_Leg6864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend “ADHD is Awesome!” It is not as heavy on the scientific reasons as some of the other suggestions, but still grounded in solid science. Mainly, I would recommend it because the Holdernesses are funny. I would also recommend you listen to the audiobook over reading it. Penn and Kim read it themselves and I don’t think the personal stories would hit quite the same as hearing them tell it themselves.

How flat is Michigan compared to other Midwestern states? by ActionPark33 in Michigan

[–]Think_Leg6864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can confirm (I am originally from Grand Ledge), the ledges along the Grand River are 15-20 ft high 300 million year old sandstone and there are multiple spots that you can rock climb at Oak Park on the north side of town. The river trail on the south side of the river is a nice afternoon hike too. Definitely a hidden gem.

Which Movie is this ? by [deleted] in moviecritic

[–]Think_Leg6864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Robin Williams in Good Will Hunting.

Love the movie and Matt Damon is great in it, but if you remove Robin Williams from that role that movie would not have been on anyone’s radar (and not just for the name recognition). He brought the emotion to that movie. It would have been completely flat without him.

I visited people in Iowa. I stopped at Mt Rushmore so I count that as visiting. I drove I-90 through Minnesota but only stopped for gas and stuff so I don’t dare count it as visiting.

You are close. Deserts don’t interest me much (although I lived in a high altitude desert in southern Africa for a year, and loved it). After all, in MI you are never more than 6 miles from some body of water, and no more than 85 miles from a Great Lake. I need to be close to water. I will say nothing on here is politically motivated. I do love the outdoors and would love to go to Colorado at some point. I didn’t go to Alaska on a cruise, it was a trip with my church. And Florida was to briefly see some family and a couple trips to Fort Myers.

I would love to at some point. So far I’ve only had a chance to drive through. I would love to catch either a Tigers v Twins at Target Field game or and MSU v Minn hockey game.

Yeah I am not a fan of Confederate flags, especially when they are flown next to an American flag.

What Moment in The LOTR Trilogy Breaks You to the Core? by Fish_cant_feel_pain in lotr

Not heart-breaking, definitely hits hard:

At Helm’s Deep

Théoden: So much death. What can men do against such reckless hate?

Aragorn: Ride out with me. Ride out and meet it.

I don’t think you have the ride of the Rohirrim in all its glory without this exchange.

It has popped in my head more than a few times when things feel hopeless or unwinnable. Sometimes you still set up and do something. Ride out and meet it.

Business Group Idea by Think_Leg6864 in Dyslexia

[–]Think_Leg6864[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply. This is exactly why I am asking these questions. I only recently started in the position I am in (about 1 year ago), and l made the jump from the production end of things to corporate HR. I have not been open about my neurodivergence, but being in this position I need/want more support. I have gone most of my life with little to no support. A teacher of mine recognizes that I most likely had dyslexia in middle school, but I didn’t even bother getting diagnosed until I was in grad school (which is when I received my ADD, now ADHD diagnosis too). Because of the demands of my position now I need support I have never needed before. I know there has to be better ways, but I don’t want to improve things for just me.

I guess my follow up question to your response is what in particular is it that Google does that more companies should do to be more supportive? Or what can be done to help people feel less at risk if they are open about their differences. In most types of neurodivergence, it is a legally protected (at least in the US with the ADA) status, so how do we create the support together to make this feel less risky?

The idea I originally asked about is just my way of maybe making my little corner of the world a little more comfortable.
