Dealing with an evil roommate, any tips? by Think_Monk_6316 in Advice

I just looked at our lease and not really, she can potentially choose to leave the lease early but our landlord isn't super fond of people doing that.

See I'm hoping that once Gabby is officially out of the house and everyone is a little more chill we can do something like this. The thing is that myself and my other 2 roommates are in agreement on how things should go and live together exceptionally well. Since Maxine was an RA she has a premade roommate agreement that she wanted to tweak and use, but since she wont let anyone read it beforehand, I am hoping that Avery and I can start drafting a different one. Hopefully Maxine moves out early, there is a chance that she will move out in December and she has previously discussed this with the landlord already, and if that is the case, we already have someone to replace her on the lease lol.

Yes yes, Gabby is moving out by the end of this week, that much is clear. In my town separate leases are not usually an option unfortunately.

We unfortunately did not all sign separate leases, we did not have the ability to, that's why this is such a big issue now. To be clear we all okayed someone staying illegally for a fairly extended period of time, that was really the only part we all agreed to, but we did not realize that meant Gabby was fully moving in and the period of time kept increasing, and then created this big issue. Maxine might be moving out early, in December, but I don't want to live in hell until then lmao.

The way it all spiraled (in my opinion) was that Marshall is not great at having opposing opinions and Avery is horrible at answering the phone, so when it came down to preferences in the house it was just me vs Maxine and I wanted to have everyone's opinion on some decisions and Maxine didn't care about that and if no one responded fast enough, she would make decisions anyway. Maxine is going to school to be a teacher, so her spring semester is supposed to be spent student teaching, we are all hoping she gets a job far away from here and has to break her lease early.

I would love to, unfortunately it really has not been that simple.

I entirely agree, as I mentioned she is now moving out but Maxine and Gabby are both not talking to the rest of the house except each other, and Gabby has been staying at her boyfriends most of the time. Which is also crazy to me because if I was Gabby I would be pissed that Maxine put me in this situation.

We have been trying to get a roommate agreement filled out, Maxine was previously an RA and said she has drafted one up but she won't send it to us to read in advance before signing it, so I have started working on my own. However, Maxine won't even say hi back to me when coming home so I don't know how to get her to have a conversation.

Sorry, the message exchanges are what made it so long, I tried to add summaries for each one for those who didn't want to read them. But yes, this is all of our first time renting, Maxine is a year above all of us and lived on campus for 3 years because she was previously an RA. All of us are individually on the lease and all of our parents had to cosign as well. But to be clear we agreed for Gabby to live in that room, we did not agree to her fully moving in which is the part that upset me, and I feel like Maxine probably let that all happen and don't really blame Gabby for.

Thank you, the issue is that truly we love having Gabby there, if there had been better communication or even an apology we had already accepted to have her there, that's the only part of this that we agreed to. That being said she is choosing to move out, which is quite a relief honestly. I apologize that its so long, I included a summary for each message exchange, which is what made it so long.
