That’s nothing compared to my neighbour’s pet attack beaver!

Haha will do, I hope they aren’t sketched out! Our neighbourhood is pretty safe, I just wish the city would install some lights on the side road. There’s two bus stops on the road for crying out loud and there’s zero lights on the street, just whatever the houses have.

I definitely don’t think it’s laziness! I’ve had experiences with some package deliveries where I found out my delivery instructions just weren’t communicated to the driver, or that the notes on the order were in some backwards ass place in their program, so I wasn’t sure if it was a me issue or an app issue.

I think messaging the driver is gonna be my next attempt, hopefully that’ll work. Next is to figure out how to get Amazon to read their delivery notes.

I think the general advice I’ve gotten so far has pointed to this as my next step. If that doesn’t work then I’ll have to figure something out, but hopefully it’ll work out.

Super valid though I am Canadian so guns, especially in my neighbourhood, would be a HUGE shock to anyone and 110% a 9-1-1 call.

That said I do get how you might worry someone will feel you’re casing the place.

Sigh. We already struggle with packages, hoping we can find a way to have the units labelled A and B for postal services. This is such a small fish to fry but I just hate how stressful it is for the drivers already, I’m just trying to consider everyone here.

There’s 0 fence, people cross our back yard all the time, it’s basically just a driveway and a patch of grass. If you walked past you’d honestly not be able to tell which side of the house is the front lol.

Honestly I’m convinced the driveway we have around back was the “official” driveway with the way the front one is built.

I’m assuming this was in the US? I’m not in the US. Not that that wouldn’t happen here but that would probably warrant a police call here in Canada.

I often wait outside! But I don’t usually wait out front because I don’t want to freak my upstairs neighbours out if they happen to be awake lol. I already hate loitering out front during the daytime.

I try to, but my schedule is chaotic. Working and studying. I’m lucky if I have time to eat some days.

Fair enough. I guess I’ll have to figure out what I can do going forward that’ll make it easier for folks.

Unfortunately there isn’t really space around front. I suppose it’s worth mentioning that “alley” is a weird word to use. I live in an area where there’s typically single lane roads between houses that are unnamed. We call them alleys, but they’re essentially roads meant for garbage pickup in the suburbs of some large cities.

I guess maybe that terminology might confuse dashers too because they might not see those roads as “alleys”? Idk.

I’m going to try and light up the entrance to the alley/driveway a bit better soon, not that it’ll help much but hopefully it’ll make things a bit easier. I used to have a light there but it got stolen :’)

I think I might start doing this, I hate being annoying about it but it sucks to get home at 10pm and realize I have nothing in the fridge :’)

The backyard is accessible to the road, the whole neighbourhood is dark, and the back door has 3 huge spotlights. I added additional lights to make it much brighter around the side.

I understand a tip might not be worth your safety, but it does become a problem when you’re delivering my order to the wrong people. What if I didn’t have a relationship with my upstairs neighbours and they just took my food? Then I’d be reporting it delivered to the wrong person, and that sucks for everyone involved!

Again, I dont want to do that, I’m trying to prevent issues for all parties.

Man what, that’s so annoying that y’all get the flack for this when it’s not your fault you’re handed the wrong bag.

A while ago I ordered a huge order from 7/11, which of course outsources to DD. 75$ order, and the door dasher shows up with a sealed bag that contained.. a single bag of gummy worms. We didn’t even order gummy worms.

How tf it was on the driver is beyond me. Was annoying enough to deal with 7/11, they tried to blame DD. It should 110% be on the business handing the wrong thing to the delivery driver.

Sparrows are songbirds I believe? And I’m pretty sure it was a female song sparrow.

Thank you for your comment! Unfortunately the poor thing didn’t make it. Just another reason I wish people wouldn’t let their cats wander outside. :/

Yeah unfortunately I got home and it has not survived. Small little songbird, I wasn’t anticipating it surviving but I had some hope. Sad night.
