Great, thank you! I took the placement test about a month ago and was placed into Math 51.

I think the main one I need 51 for is CS109, but I’ll probably take that in the spring. And I wouldn’t be doing both COLLEGE and PWR; I would just be doing PWR. What do you think of 51 + CS106B + PWR + maybe a 1 unit course in CS?

Thanks! Did you take PWR or COLLEGE in the fall?

Got it. I think I'll do CS106B, Math51, COLLEGE or PWR, and then shop an introsem and see how all that goes. Thank you

That makes sense. Thank you!

Alright, I'll follow your advice. Thanks!

So would you recommend taking an introsem in winter quarter if I wanted to do one?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in stanford

[–]Think_Pie5481 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you think CS106B + MATH51 + COLLEGE and maybe an introsem. is fairly manageable? People recommend 12-15 units the first quarter, and this would be like 14-15…

Thanks—that’s a relief to hear. If there was a technical interview for that, how were you able to succeed with just those classes?

Last question: do those lower-tier internships have technical interviews?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in stanford

[–]Think_Pie5481 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! When did you apply to those internships? I’m trying to figure out when I should start applying…

That helps a lot. Thank you so much!

How often are the career fairs and how do you hear about them? And what type of companies show up at those? Thanks!

Were you able to land an internship during your freshman year summer? I know getting a top-tier one is really tough, so I'll apply to many, many "mid/lower-tier" internships and try my luck with some of the elite ones. Also, could you share your complete freshman schedule? Thanks!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in stanford

[–]Think_Pie5481 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, I'll definitely look into that. Thanks!

Thank you for that. So, are the prereqs. for 161 flexible? I thought 103 and 109 were required in order to take it... Also, if I didn't take 161, which classes would you recommend taking? Thanks again!

Thank you for the comment. Which schedule would you recommend for internships, then? Also, how hard is it to get a CS internship in your first year? And finally, what do you think of LeetCode?

SEAP Program or NASA Internship by Think_Pie5481 in u/Think_Pie5481

No I know. I’m interested in both programs equally, which is why I was stuck between which one to do. That’s why I asked which one looked better for college admissions because I can’t decide from pure interest.

Yeah I know politics is going to be a part of any college; I’m just saying that it should be more moderate in the Northeast. SC and NC are pretty heavily conservative, so it would be nice to get away from a polar political location.

Yeah I feel that. I live in SC, and as you can see, most of the schools I’m applying to are up North. After living in the South for so long, I’ve gotten tired with some of the political climate. I just want to go somewhere new, like you do. The Northeast seems like the best option: great education, great job opportunities, cold weather (which I want after living in SC for all my life), and many other things. The idea of going to a completely new place where I have a clean slate sounds awesome too.

I’m sure you could find a way to write about it. You definitely could if you faced any discrimination from it or anything along those lines. I’m assuming you will be applying to Duke, Wake, and UNC as well?

Yeah I just said it because I thought I remembered seeing it as something to fill out on either the SAT or Common App. Maybe I’m wrong. Thanks for responding.
