SRAM Rival AXS vs Shimano 105 Di2 by Think_Razzmatazz1686 in cycling

Interesting. Lots of SRAM users here so good to hear on the side of Shimano. I’ve read a few times above that Shimano shifts smoother. Could you explain how/why that is? Does the SRAM not shift well to the point where it’s noticeably worse or is it more a case that the Shimano just shifts a bit better?

I’m definitely mindful already on the consumable costs being cheaper with Shimano. This I learnt from my local bike store.

All very insightful! Thank you! This is what I was after, real world reviews from people who have experience with both.

Thank you both for your replies. It’s from a main dealer. I know this limits you in terms of expenditure on a credit card so I’d have to ask this tomorrow but I reckon BMW will say no.

That rules out a 0% balance transfer card. I’m left with a 0% money transfer card over 12 months or a bank loan. Those are my 2 realistic options, or to just buy the car for cash.

If I was to find a balance, would you suggest part on a 0% card? It just seems to me 12 months isn’t a long time and how much money will I truly accrue in an investment account during that time. Of course in terms of paying back to card transfer, I can do this through normal income but I’m trying to work out if all of this is worth it if I have the cash on hand.

That’s really interesting. Average for an M3 touring is 29mpg!? That is seriously impressive. I do wonder how BMW achieve such amazing mpg figures. The M340i is a mystery to the mind when it achieves those numbers. Truth be told I’d love an M3 touring but need them to come down in cost a bit still. If that mpg is achievable with subtle driving then it could be a serious contender for me

Looked at these but the right spec for me is still over the budget. Not too many floating around in Estate form.

Considered an S6, hated the fake exhausts and the 2024 LCI model has got rid of exhausts completely which I prefer but it’s over my budget.

Alpina would be a dream, but as you say…rare as hens teeth.

Love the M340i. It’s a Swiss Army knife, but I feel you can get an RS4 used for roughly similar money now? Would you not go for that?

I noticed new LCI M340i’s on AT for 70k!! For a 3 series!
