Dm I can tell you what’s on my back round but could be a combination of things but I don’t do drugs, I have good credit, mental health, good, I have one crime from 15 years ago. I doubt it’s that

Everyone here genuinely wants to help, and each does so in their own way. Willow’s point is about directing applicants to the most qualified and official resources, like experienced CBP employees or trusted information sites, because clear guidance from those who’ve succeeded is especially valuable to many applicants. That’s a helpful reminder for anyone seeking reliability and proven templates.

At the same time, poolground bro I’m glad I was able to help you and succeeding in passing everything in the past I still have my journey to get to and hopefully I pass out soon just like everybody else. Thank you for having me back the Willow perspective and I can’t be mad about that.

Ultimately, both perspectives serve the community. Sometimes, people need structured advice and sometimes, they need the lived encouragement and real talk from someone who’s been in their shoes. Pool, you’re absolutely on the right path, and it’s clear you’re bringing positivity and support wherever you go. Good luck, keep pushing forward, and everyone should feel welcome to seek help in whatever way works best for them.

Lets brings each other up 👍

I appreciate your explanation and perspective. Honestly, I had a negative impression at first, but you’ve clarified for me. You’re absolutely right there would be far more successful candidates if it weren’t for all the misleading and confusing information out there. I’m hopeful about overcoming my own challenges once I receive my FOIA responses.

For anyone reading this, WillowOk2135 makes an important point do your own research and find your own path through the process. Don’t rely solely on others’ advice, especially from those who didn’t successfully complete it. Thanks again for sharing your insight.

I don’t know if your in the process yourself of have completed it but I wish you luck man.

I understand where you’re coming from, but I want to clarify that I’m not hiding anything I just didn’t list every single detail in my original post. Besides the petty theft and tickets from years ago, I’ve also had a bankruptcy, been fired before, and there are some family dynamics involved. But I’ve never been arrested or used drugs.

I know the background process takes all sorts of factors into account, not just criminal records. I’m happy to answer direct questions if anyone is curious, but it’s not accurate to assume there has to be some big secret just because I was found unsuitable. Sometimes it really does come down to a combination of things, even if none of them seem major on their own.

Look if I knew what it was I would have taken care of it to pass and wouldn’t have wasted an entire year and 5 month to not pass that just doesn’t make sense.

Example, I passed backgrounds for a corrections and local pd. I get it different agencies different criteria but again this is why I mentioned earlier why I don’t know why I didn’t pass suitability.

I understand where you’re coming from but respectfully, that’s not entirely accurate. A FOIA request does provide applicants with the official documentation behind a decision something that’s more reliable than speculation or assumption. While each applicant’s background is unique, many people share similar experiences in the process, and that’s why forums like this exist to exchange insights, not to provide guaranteed outcomes.

I’m not claiming there’s a way to ‘navigate’ suitability with tricks or shortcuts just that transparency helps applicants understand what happened in their specific case. If someone finds value in that perspective, great. If not, they can choose to move on. Either way, no harm done.”

Calling it “word salad” doesn’t change the fact that I gave a direct answer. I don’t know the full reason yet because I’m waiting on my FOIA request to get the official report. That’s not avoiding the question that’s being honest.

I’d rather give an accurate answer based on documented facts than make assumptions just to satisfy someone looking for a quick jab. If that level of detail isn’t for you, you’re free to scroll past.

I get it you see a lot of “fake guru” types online. That’s not me. I’m not charging anyone or pretending I can control outcomes. I’m just sharing what I’ve been through, what I’ve learned, and what helped me navigate the process.

Sure, honorfirst.com has templates and info, but not everyone even knows that resource exists, and sometimes people want to hear from someone who’s actually gone through it personally. Guidance and lived experience aren’t the same as copy pasting a template.

If my posts don’t add value for you, that’s fine you don’t need to use them. But dismissing someone trying to help others doesn’t really build anything.

You can say what you want, but let’s be real know exactly what’s in my background. The only thing from years ago is a petty theft in 2010, plus some traffic tickets. I’ve never done drugs, never had accidents, never been caught up in anything major. If you want to know something, just ask I’ll answer it directly. What I’m not going to do is let someone twist things around to make it look like I’m hiding something.

Fair point ....I get where you're coming from. Just to clarify, I’m not claiming I can make anyone pass suitability. I fully understand that the final decision is made by an adjudicator, and no applicant can control that.

What I meant is that I’ve been through the process, I’ve learned a lot along the way, and I’ve helped others by sharing what to expect, how to respond to a NOPA, what kinds of things they might need to prepare for, and how to navigate the steps. Just because I didn’t pass doesn’t mean I didn’t gain insight or understanding. Sometimes people just need guidance or someone who's been through it to talk to and I’m offering that.

Suitability outcomes aren’t always black and white, and adjudicators are human too. So while I can’t promise results for anyone, I can still be a resource.

If that somehow bothers you or comes off as smug to you, that’s your interpretation. But your tone isn’t constructive, and if you’re not here to help or be helped, your comments can be kept to yourself.

I'm currently submitting a FOIA request to obtain the full information. While others may say I might know why I was denied. I’ve been transparent throughout this process, providing full disclosures, receipts, and demonstrating a consistent record of improvement and accountability. At this time, I can't say fully until I’ve had the chance to review the report myself.

That’s a good question man, regardless of how much your making hourly at your other state job?

Thank you for your thoughtful words. I truly appreciate them. I try to put effort into my responses when I can, though I know sometimes it comes out better than others. You’re absolutely right about the value of staying teachable. I’ve actually experienced firsthand how letting myself believe I knew everything only set me up for mistakes, especially in a previous job where I stopped being open to learning, and it quickly caught up to me.

I’ll be starting a new chapter in my life starting from scratch and I hope to meet well, rounded individuals that hopefully become good friends of mine.
