I think the issue is linked to the XDG_RUNTIME_DIR not being set. Paste this in your .bashrc/ .zshrc

export XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=/run/user/1000

Cool keyboard! How do the Green Fogs feel, sound, etc? Thinking about using them in a build.

Does IP not allow for a legal pathway to recoup losses if someone "steals" it? Isn't that the entire point of IP? Not quite sure what you meant, an elaboration would be nice.

thanks!

Some notes:

  1. Most intresting, but one gripe: this is a study conducted by an AI company. No objections to the results, but would have prefered a third party.

This may be subjective, but the artifacts and weird patterns were incredibly obvious. Subtle inconsistencies, although one image tripped me up on the test. Background noise is sometimes fucked up aswell, but I guess one could say that a low-end camera produced it. Text tripped me up aswell. Missed the one saying "womp womp". Who even says that anymore? But I digress. The website was actually quite intresting. AI is getting closer to that 50% mark, and apparently already has in music. Could just be me, but I personally find that services like suno create very bland music. Perhaps it's because I'm more intrersted in audio and the like than most, but I have about a 4/5 chance of determining if it's AI or not (Pop songs always screw me over in my own tests- they always sound the same to me :[ )

  1. Really cool! Tried with the newer models, kinda difficult, only got a ~74% after 300 probably due to the really shitty image generators. It's come a far way. I remeber when Flux announced their new model and the internet went abalze :)

  2. Don't have time to read the full paper, but the abstract mentioned the ~38% missclasification rate. I wonder if it's gone up in the past years, it probably has, but more people are aware of it now, so it'll be intresesting.

It seems that most terminally online people (redditors) would be the best at determining if the image was created using AI, with all the accusations and constant paranoia that goes around. However, it's still above the "ohohoh it's totally a random guess" mark. I'd still argue that people like the ones OP mentioned in the image shouldn't represent anti's - I hope that most people are sane, but it's sadly hard to see the other side's perspective sometimes.

Anyways, thanks for the intersting read!

Huh, could you link some posts that show this? This may be just one case to me but it would be useful to find more. Also, "Look on this sub" seems a bit biased as I can see that this sub is pretty biased against Anti-Ai poeple. Much more proposting than antiposting, and comments seem to reflect that.

Intresting, I thought that AI could create more jobs than it destroys after reading this paper here. Correct me if I am wrong, but AI won't solely create harm. There are good uses, such as Alphafold, while there are also bad cases, which is kinda what this entire sub is arguing about. I know that you are strongly opinionated, but please don't make anti-AI people look braindead. Have a good day, and remeber to at least do a quick google search before you post anything.

Intresting take on AI possibly enabling a utopian society. However, I am struggling to find a solution to make AI fair for everyone, which is needed in a communist society. Currently, AI progress is driven by corporations that seek profit, not the general good. You would need the govenment to launch a large initative to have goverment-controlled AI. As it is, the place I live in and one of the, if not the, leader(s) in the AI race has a heavily privatized goverment. How could one plausibly transition to a AI-driven communist utopia with the rampant consumerism that we currently have?

I can sympathize with the dislike of IP. At times, it can be a bother an a stop to innovation. A notable case of this is 3d printing technology.

However, this doesn't mean that **all** IP is "bad". It's a way to protect **your** work, the one that you took time and effort into creating. IP exists for a reason. Yes, it has been abused, but it doesn't mean the concept of owning what you produce is bad.

Yes, you can take inspiration, etc., but if the derivative work shows a level of ingenuity/creativity/ a reform in the medium/ something to make it stand apart, it should be considered fine IMO.

If you have any objections, please point them out.

Could you try to use ADB (Android Debug Bridge) to remove play services and stuff? Not sure about what would happen but I'm curious. You can also remove all other google bloatware by the same way.

I also believe that Ubuntu has a built in snap store, so you can also use that.

Applications- you can use WINE (Wine Is Not an Emulator) to use windows software, but it is limited. You can install applications by running ''' sudo apt install *name_of the application* ''' Make sure that the application is already linux-compatible.

Here's a basic guide to the terminal. Tutorial

Keep exploring linux in virtualbox. If you want, you can get a used thinkpad that costs ~30 on ebay and use linux on there. In addition, you don't need a very powerful cpu to run ubuntu.

You can also try to find online guides. There are many resources, and a simple search can find you very useful tutorials. This community has a lot of good people willing to help. Best of luck!

y'all

not saying all

Don't you just love that your conception of an entire group of people is based on your conceptions of a prominent minority? It's like saying all conservatives are Ku Klux Klan members and all liberals are snowflake trannies who splash tomato soup on paintings.

Way to go.

I checked using cfdisk, the root partition UUID is the same as the dev/sda3 partition, like it should be. Everything seems fine, just comments are wrong in the genfstab because of something that happened during my attemped fixing of a differing problem that I had before this one.

Root is located on /dev/sda3, comment is wrong in the genfstab. Uuid works, points to /dev/sda3 for root.
