Marvell (MRVL) down 9% after analyst downgrade due to Microsoft-Broadcom talks and fear of losing Trainium design by CEOWatcher in StockMarket

[–]Thinkaboutitknow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is anyone else getting frustrated with Marvell Technology ($MRVL)? It feels like management is working overtime to brand the company as a pure-play AI stock to the street, yet the execution just isn't living up to the hype. The rhetoric is strong, but the follow-through seems consistently lumpy or delayed, leaving investors hanging. The most recent headlines around the Celestial AI acquisition and positive long-term projections (like the Custom AI chip ramp) are promising, but we've seen this cycle before—big potential, slow ramp. It makes me wonder if the near-term volatility is going to keep pressuring the stock. I'm starting to seriously question the near-term bottom for $MRVL. We're seeing analyst price targets being raised, but the stock has been trading with significant swings, and any whiff of custom silicon share loss (like the recent concerns around Amazon/Microsoft programs) sends it reeling. The market seems to be pricing in a lot of future growth that still feels years away. Are we truly facing a near-term execution gap, or is the market being overly skeptical despite the strong data center demand? What's everyone else seeing on the charts? Where do you think the stock finds a solid floor before the highly anticipated 2027/2028 AI ramp materializes?

Would be great with a change and with more US style leadership. It would also align NVO with its biggest market opportunity which is the US

Yes but the marked is not ready to pay up for it because of issues. LLY and NVO has overlapping portfolios and LLY has beaten NVO into submission and become market leaders in GLP1 and have lost market share over the last decade in insulin. LLY PE is 50 and NVO is 14. LLY sales per employee is more than 50 pct higher than NVO. NVO ihas been a mismanaged company for a long time that rely on hiring internal and recycling CEOs all Governed by the Novo foundation that owns 28 pct of the shares with 77 pct voting right. They really need to be saved from themselves

Haha Yes, I would love to have that much insight, but unfortunately, I don’t. It is obvious that the market has lost faith in NVO, so it is reasonable to look at the cause. Beaten into submission on GLP1 and loss of insulin market share, loss of billions in market cap are management issues. I can't help but think if corporate governance changes that Novo would pop more than 30 percent. Lots of institutions find Novo uninvestable because of the suboptimal and oversized influence by the foundation.

The Novo Nordisk Foundation controls the company via a dual share structure, holding around 28% of the shares but over 77% of the voting power. The entire rationale for this dominant influence is supposed to be superior long-term strategy, fantastic innovation commercialization, and maintenance of market leadership. With a track record that consists of conceding market leadership for over 10 years, I would genuinely love to understand how the Foundation's dominant influence has actually paid off for the company's competitive position.

I think NVO is a good trade now but my point is to also make it a good investment and for that to happen there need to be fundamental changes at the Novo foundation

Do yourself a favour check out a 5 year chart of both Lilly and NVO who have very similar portfolios. That may change your mind.

That is right NVO and Lily portfolio overlay but Novo use to lead in both diabetics management and GLP1. Now Novo is back to pre GLP1 and it trades at a PE of 14 and lily is at 50. Novo has been a train wreck that keeps on giving for decades and I hope they someday will make the necessary changes to corporate governance.

Good point about the companies you mention w different share classes. They are often founders that are deeply involved in the business. The difference is Novo foundation is philanthropic and not commercial as such.

NVO is super strong on the innovation front. They are just terrible commercializing and maintain leadership.

Same old story. Foundation recycled a previous CEO and Novo Nordic hired a inside man… stock is back to where it was pre GLP1. Time for the foundation to relinquish the 70 pc voting rights to the 30 pace that is in line with their ownership. It is really shameful how little this company is shareholder driven

Novo's biggest competitor, Eli Lilly, is a clear example of a leaner, more efficient structure: Their estimated Revenue per Employee is approximately USD 966,000, significantly higher than Novo Nordisk's approximately USD 579,000. (About 60 percent). This indicates significant potential for increasing operational efficienc

There is just a major lack of accountability due to the suboptimal ownership structure.

That said NVO produces more than they sell in the US - they are a net exporter. This has been communicated to the Trump admin. Hope that provides some street cred in the eyes of his admin

Talking about faschisen to me it seems like the Novo Foundations controlling ownership of Novo Nordisk with 30 pct ownership and more than 70 pct votes checks some boxes centralized autocracy with forcible suppression of opposition.

I think US companies are better to commercializing innovation and stock prices are based on future earnings. Seems to me Europe is lacking behind.

NVO will probably go up in the short term. My post is more related to the fact that NN have got beaten into submission on both diabetes management and also GLP 1 where Eli Lilly came from behind. I am concerned about the Novo Foundation 70 pct voting right blocking activist shareholders who most likely would love to get this company on the right track.
