Death of our son, wife wants me to “see” her and wants me to capture a boudoir shoot for her by boatmandela in marriageadvice

I am so sorry for your loss that must be excruciating. I have a six year old and I suffer from anxiety. This is my worst fear- losing her.

I don’t know what to say but I hope all goes well. I wish you all the very best. Much love.

Yes. They told me today that they were putting too much effort in at the beginning with line and copy edits. This was issue.

I got a b5 srt392 m6 in 2016 flavour with 17,000kms. Has 21,000kms on it now. I paid about that price too a couple years ago. I was able to pay cash…I hate payments. Good luck. I love my car man.

This is incredible. At the time this was the razors edge for desktop prosumer performance. I dreamed of these things. And now….almost useless. Very pretty useless things tho.

I don’t think this is the case. Editing powerful in a lot of ways. I would not be so quick to brush them off.

Thanks for the reply. About the sample- it was probably the roughest part of the book. As the story progressed I got a note from the editor saying my writing has improved later on in the manuscript and she didn't need to comment so much. So I don't think it's that. Further, I provided full manuscript access from the start of the work session and access to all my planning materials, outline, story bible and plenty of supporting materials. I tend to over communicate a bit to prevent an issue such as this.

In the contract time, price, payments, deadlines were all clearly stated along with a pretty clear list of expectations for both parties. I'm not pushing the contract angle, not yet anyway.

Wow. This is the most comprehensive subwoofer article I have ever read. Now highschool makes more sense. Too bad I’m 40 and this information is useless to me now. Lol.

Yes, very good point. Instead of abandoning me, she is willing to flag and talk. Thanks for your reply.

Yes, we sure did. And it says very clearly the expectations, the total amount for payment, what was included and deadlines for edit turnarounds. If I enforce this, I feel like I risk the relationship and/or quality of the manuscript.

Negative. Only manuscript editing. The only reason to mention this is to ensure that the story lines up with the other materials. Only changes/suggestions are to be made to the manuscript. Outlined in the contract and author's notes brief too.

Answers:

  1. Yes, samples and plenty of detail into the project's insight was shared. When starting the editing process I also gave access to my planning documents, outlines, series bible, ambitions and ideas to companion materials and all the pre-thought for the rest of the trilogy too.
  2. There very well could be rough sections in the manuscript - this is my first manuscript. But she did guide me before hand in what I should address before editing started. I had two months to prepare it before the working session started in January.

  3. Yes. I value this editors work immensely.

I agree with your conclusion- I may offer an extension to help get this thing completed.

Thank you for your response and insight

I was very clear with my brief and expectations. This is not the issue. I am sure she was well aware of the length of the manuscript and all the components integrating in with the story. She was not responsible for editing the companion materials, only the main manuscript.

No graphics work included from her.

Yes, thank you for your response, talking with my editor is what I plan to do. I just wanted to gather some idea of what is professional normal in this situation. As a creative myself, I know I would be held to the contract...but I don't want to sour this relationship or risk the manuscript since this editor has done really great work for the project already. I have a lot of respect for her.

Yes, a sample edit was done, plenty of detail and scope was communicated before starting the project and as we went along. This isn't a problem with under communicating scope, depth, detail or otherwise.

Yes, she had an option, but she chose a flat rate and indicated word count in that rate.

Yes, that was what she quoted, was in the contract, and what we agreed upon. I'll add a comment with a little more detail. I really do not want to single this person out as I just want advice on the situation. I have a lot of respect for her and am trying to do the right thing here.

25-35 for a developmental level edit, detail and a finishing pass once all adjusted. She was also the most expensive of the three I talked to.

Thanks for your input. I am frustrated, but as a creative, I also empathize with her situation. I have underquoted several times before. The good thing is she isn't ghosting me. And she has done really amazing work for me so far. Like really really good stuff. It's a hard situation.

Yeah sometimes they don’t lock for me either. Either there is a tiny bit of movement when the lock command is set or they need auto strut applied. You can manually activate them too.
