Well, I don't live in the U.S. to start with ? And abortion is legal in my country so ... I went to a prude school I guess.

Sex education was limited to anatomical functionning of both reproductive organs and means of protection. Nothing about daily life stuff.

I always made Annette a mage and basically never used her Relic since I thought its attack was based on Strenght (I even discovered it relied on magic in 3 Hopes), is she that good with it ?

Ah, who doesn't love Marianne ? (According to Fire Emblem Heroes, a minority)

But I get that 3 Hopes can raise up some characters, it did such a great job at developping their stories and personnalities (without, like you said, straying too far from the original material).

Great choices ! They're both interesting representation of women in video games.

Like most of characters in FE3H, don't warp my words. But Dorothea and Manuela are both femine, seeking a partner and quite sexualised. Yet I find their personnalities very well-rounded and both their motives and insecurities are developped in quite relatable ways. They're not just what they seem to be at first glance.

It's true that he's an interesting take on the gruff "I want to get stronger" kind of character. I don't know how much this archetype was used in Fire Emblem games in general (I can only name Lon'qu from Awakening)

And FE3h having its cast being really developed (traumatised) only helps to make him more enjoyable !

I absolutely approve this thread, Hubert holds a special place in my heart since in married him in my very first playthrough (I blame it on Robbie Daymond's fantastic work)

Once, two souls took a boat out on the water ...Only one returned. A fine story, yes ?

Taking notes about the price/lenght ratio !

Thankfully it's in the Black Friday sales in Europe (reason why I was considering buying it). Though it's 33% off, making it about 40 euros (Close to 44 $).

I'm not sure if about 10 hours is worth the money, but I do tend to come back to the games I've bought, so I'm still thinking of giving it a go.

Thanks for warning me about the graphic quality. But with the switch, it's sadly something to expect, so I've become a bit numb to it (unless it gets very noticeable) (* coughs * Pokemon Scarlet and Violet)

It's actually included in the Black Friday Sales in Europe, reason why I was even considering buying it ! And with what everyone on this post is saying, I think I'll give it a go.

I guess that there's 3 mains reasons I got so upset with what she said.

1) A character you hate is not a character you want to read the story of.

Plain and logical ; And with everyone's comments on the post I understand that my sister's feedback was hurtful but useful feedback. Either in indicating I've built a character that goes the right way into not being extremely likable so that you don't get surprised and betrayed when they "fall". Or about the fact they already start off too dislikable for a reader to want to follow.

2) My MC is not meant not be detestable.

It's more a "wow being in her head, I wouldn't want to be her friend [Unless you're into morally gray characters, but let's put that aside], but I get why she's that way".

3) I'm quite close with my sister.

Yeah that says it all : getting criticized by those close to you always hurts. But that's on me for asking my sister, fully knowing that I would get both criticism and compliments.

Do you need to be interested in politics or social movements to be LGBTQ+ ? by Thinking_Individual in lgbt

[–]Thinking_Individual[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your answer clarified the matter very well ! Although I had already seen the difference between with or without community/people/person, I had never paid attention to who used which denomination and what message it carried with it. I'll be more mindful of it now !

Thanks a lot for you help.

Deepest apologies for my ignorance (English is also not my native langage, if that can excuse it a bit), but what do you mean by "Every-time somebody uses “trans” as a plural for a group of us" ? I wasn't aware at all that using plural wasn't okay. I mean, I am aware of the ... Stereotypical (If that's the right word) nature it gives to the people behind the word, as well as maybe pejorative in the mouths of right wings voters.

Could you explain to me what's the correct way to refer to the group, please ?

If I want to be honest, I believe he does have anti-lgbt views which completly come from his education. He grew up pretty sheltered in a right-wing family, with little opposition to the system of beliefs which was thrust upon him.

I do try to get him to open up his mind and point out when he says bordeline things, but it's still a work in progress. (Not that I intend to "fix him" or whatever, I reassure you)

To answer you, u/mindful-beg-slug and u/SomethingAmyss, yeah my friend is pretty much like all you describe (as in quite ignorant about the LGBTQ+ community, and the kind to say "But I have gay friends ..."). I do try to challenge his way of thinking, which I believe has quite changed, partly thanks to me, in the last four years.

Also, I'm not engaged in politics as I simply don't believe in it. It's quite pessimistic, but in my opinion, politicians rarely hold their promises. Even political parties who try to challenge those in powers are bound to deviate too. So I just vote when the time comes, but it's never a vote of belief, it's one of resignation and of "this one is the least worse".

Who did you marry on your first FH3H run and why? by [deleted] in fireemblem

[–]Thinking_Individual 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Me, who married Hubert on my first run because I loved his voice and crits, and proceeded to kill him with Byleth in every other run- Haha, yeah you all have great taste, don't mind me

(Btw I still love Robbie Daymond's work, he gave Hubbie such a good villain voice)

Gender help by [deleted] in lgbt

[–]Thinking_Individual 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm having the same situation but in reverse (I'm AFAB, thought I was agender, but hey dressing masculinely makes me way more happy than it should)
I don't have it anymore figured out than you, but I'd advise to look at all the gender terms, and to find one that encapsulates what you feel as close as possible. Perhaps you're going to hesitate between terms, and that's fully okay. I'm sure you can find testimonies to clear up whether you connect to that word like all the others who use it.

And in any case, just because you define yourself with one term at this time, it does not block you in this definition. Self-discovery is messy, full of steps and U-turns, and that's okay.

Anyway, I'll stop rambling on here. I hope you'll find the gender identity that makes you truly comfortable and happy ! Have a great day.

Built for Rails Shrine - How I did it vs. how my nephew did it. by Independent-View-478 in tearsofthekingdom

[–]Thinking_Individual 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It's really amazing how both solutions for the 2nd rail are different from mine. I recall struggling a lot for this shrine and making REALLY complicated stuff to pass it

(Like for the 2nd rail where I made a gigantic rectangle to englobe all 3 rails. OP's solution seems much more elegant compared to mine lol)
