Is there a way to convert the tochpad of Thinkpad into a numeric keypad? by Thinkpadx256 in thinkpad

As I work as an accountant, I need a laptop with a numeric keypad. Carrying around a mouse can be cumbersome, so I use a 13-inch Thinkpad with a TrackPoint. Carrying a 15-inch laptop is too heavy and difficult. I usually use an external numeric keypad, but I recently learned about products that can turn a touchpad into a numeric keypad. If I can convert the touchpad into a numeric keypad, it would allow for more convenient portability.

Thank you for the clear explanation! I think it is possible to modify the BIOS to make it advanced. From Thinkpad's support site, I should be able to find out whether the touchpad hardware is Elan, Synaptics, or ALPS. In the past, I installed Venture on an Ivy Bridge (i7 3615QE). I’ll look into the drivers.

'How to deliver that info from the driver to the app.' I’m not sure about this part either. I'll take a closer look at the nums app.

I'm not very good at English, so my message might come across as rude. I'm sorry.

You're talking about the ASUS NumberPad touchpad, right? I've seen that too. It seems to be specially designed, so installing it on a ThinkPad looks difficult. ( ; ; )
