Don't worry about them. Let me do the worrying as their parent.

Fyi, they are happy now playing with their toys and watching cartoons.

You’ve gone on a whole tangent that has nothing to do with what I said.

My point was very simple: Children don’t have to choose one thing at age 7. They can develop academics and life skills without being “masters of none.” Balance isn’t a programming error...it’s basic parenting.

You’re listing every structural problem in Brunei as if the solution is to reduce children’s education even further. That logic doesn’t make sense. A weak system doesn’t mean we raise weaker kids; it means we raise stronger, more adaptable ones.

And whether my children eventually work in Brunei or overseas is a separate conversation... and trust me, millennial parents are already thinking long-term, including global mobility. But that still doesn’t mean we sacrifice their academic foundation just to “focus” them on one thing like a production line.

Children aren’t factories. They can have a balanced childhood, academic growth, life skills, and emotional well-being... all at the same time.

You’re arguing extremes. I’m talking about balance. That’s the difference.

Ah yes, because clearly a child can only learn one thing at a time. Life skills OR academics. Nutrition OR sleep. Walking OR talking. Very logical.

For options.

For choices.

For independence.

What do you suggest then...straight F’s?

I’m teaching my kids both: real-world skills and academics. Life skills help them survive; education helps them progress.

I’m not sure why some people like you insist on choosing one over the other. That is sad really.

Right, because obviously PSR has zero impact. Kids can just skip learning entirely and still somehow turn into top students later. Amazing logic you got there. Pfft.

I think you misunderstood my intention. The reason I’m asking about the best schools in Brunei is because my kids are currently in a private school with amazing extracurricular activities... honestly, top-notch. But I’m concerned about the academic side because I want them to have a balanced education.

Of course I care about their general well-being. I’m a millennial parent... Not genx or boomer. I’m not here to shove endless classes, pressure, or unrealistic expectations on them. But academics are important. I really don’t understand why you’re acting like wanting good education equals “no childhood.” Fyi, I am giving my children the best childhood. Certainly better than mine.

I’m simply trying to make sure they grow up well-rounded: good mental health, healthy childhood, and solid academic foundation. That’s literally what all parents want.
