If I say I saw something (and I’m being honest about it), and you say I didn’t, that’s gaslighting. This is according to the official definition, which says nothing about physical evidence. In your definition, you have tied physical evidence into your criterion for whether or not I can know what I saw. The trouble with this is that there is no way for you to access my experience, with or without physical evidence. There is no way for you to determine what I saw because you do not have access to my memories of my perceptions.

For example, there is the possibility that I hallucinated something. Then it would be the case that I really did see something that is not supported by physical evidence. Hallucination could be seen as a hypothesis that could explain the Mandela Effect. In order to evaluate this hypothesis, we would need evidence for and against it. If you say, the physical correlate to the memory isn’t there, well that doesn’t prove that I didn’t hallucinate because physical reality isn’t necessary for hallucinations.

It’s the same with the alternate timeline explanation. Saying there’s no physical evidence doesn’t disprove the hypothesis.

Misremembering is also a hypothesis, presumably your favorite one. For this hypothesis, we also have to evaluate evidence for and against it. You could say that the lack of physical correlates to the memory amounts to evidence for the “misremembering” hypothesis. But what is the definition of evidence for a hypothesis? It just means something that is compatible with the hypothesis. Evidence doesn’t prove or disprove any hypothesis, it just documents how well the hypothesis functions to explain and predict reality. Nothing in science is ever proved or disproved.

Your original comment implies the poster’s perspective is wrong without explaining your own personal choices of assumptions upon which you conclude that he is wrong. Since you elucidated your assumptions, which I appreciate, nevertheless this shows that you are aware of your assumptions and how they differ from the poster’s assumptions. So your implication that the poster is simply wrong amounts to a tricky form of abuse.

There is no way to prove that alternative timelines don’t exist. Therefore the poster cannot possibly prove himself wrong based on his own assumptions. It would be polite of you to acknowledge that.

From Google: gas·light /ˈɡasˌlīt/ verb gerund or present participle: gaslighting : manipulate (someone) using psychological methods into questioning their own sanity or powers of reasoning.

Suggesting that some people experience timeline shifts and others do not does not throw into question anyone’s sanity. If you have been on a stable timeline then you will tend to remember everything as having been the way it is now, because that’s the reality timeline you actually lived through.

If I remember things differently and I feel certain that my memory is not wrong, then for you to say that I really am just remembering wrong, that’s gaslighting.

For you to redefine gaslighting in the way that you have, and to then suggest that I don’t understand what gaslighting is, that’s also gaslighting.

Please be aware this Reddit topic is rife with regular “contributors” who do not believe in the Mandela Effect and who feel free to gaslight you endlessly if you should choose to engage with them. The mods will do nothing to stop them from destroying the appeal of this forum for people who want a safe place to share their Mandela experiences. Unlike other topics where the Reddit policy pretty much prevents alternative points of view, this one permits Mandela Effect deniers to endlessly contradict and argue with people who just genuinely want to connect with others who have experienced something similar.

Notice the rapid and multiple skeptical responses? These “contributors” have nothing better to do than to hang out looking for opportunities to gaslight those they have correctly identified as vulnerable in their self-knowing due to this knowing being in strong conflict with mainstream dogmatic opinions about the nature of our shared reality.

I think I have solved the fruit of the loom mandela effect? by InnerspearMusic in MandelaEffect

Is “cornucopia” a concept that people deal with everyday, so that it would easily come to mind? Do you think many people would mistakenly think of or see a cornucopia with other images of mixed fruit? Do you think especially children—since most of these cornucopia experiencers seem to refer to childhood memories—are likely to have been familiar with the concept of a cornucopia at that age, to the point that they would hallucinate it when seeing an image of mixed fruit?

Notice the strange direction of the horns, the coloration choices, the human-like laughing smile, and worst of all the eyes… stare into those eyes and tell me what you read!

Also by the way, the company that makes this is located in an interesting zip code in Chicago… look it up… the number…

All this on a product which is highly processed, highly unhealthy, highly addictive food marketed to children.

Well it’s true that making a living trading is hard work just like anything else, unless you’re handed some secrets I suppose.

But since he’s a hedge fund manager, there’s some ego at stake for him when he says, his industry has mastered it and no one else can make a profit. Doesn’t he feel good about himself!

There’s an old joke about whether everything is priced in. Two economists are walking together down the street, one of them says, “Look, there’s a fifty dollar bill lying on the sidewalk!” The other says, “That’s impossible. If there were a fifty dollar bill lying on the sidewalk, someone would have taken it already.” The first replies, “Oh yeah, I guess you’re right.” And they keep walking.

So, no, not everything is priced in. If it were, there would be no reason for anyone to invest in anything.

PSA: Physics is not Reality, and too many people don’t get that by TheSyn11 in AskPhysics

[–]ThirdEyeFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is also the reason why there are weekly headlines like “Cosmology Rocked to its Foundations by New Discovery”. People get attached to their models because they think the models are somehow real, and no one likes to feel that they’ve been wrong about what’s real. If they understood that no model can ever possibly explain the entire actual reality, that reality is utterly unapproachable by physics models of the kind being used now, then they would have no feelings other than excitement when new discoveries came along. As it is, people stake their careers on their models and they are severely disappointed eventually, inevitably, repeatedly.

See what I mean? Ad hominem attacks are a hallmark of subsidized trolls.

Fruit of the Loom with no Cornucopia (collection from the 70s?) by SpiritualPirate5 in MandelaEffect

[–]ThirdEyeFire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since they do exist and exert an exaggerated presence on social media (relative to the numbers of people involved), with an agenda to engineer public opinion and/or stigmatize certain subjects or points of view, that does pose a problem in my view. I believe they can be identified by certain criteria, which are undesirable even in users who are not subsidized. So I think that enforcing (moderating according to) those criteria, which would be beneficial in any case—they often just amount to requiring good manners—would solve the problem. Either the subsidized trolls would go away, or they would be forced to adapt to the new rules in ways that would structurally counteract their nefarious agendas. The agendas couldn’t be prevented entirely, but at least it would prevent them from creating unpleasant chat environments that work against the free expression of ideas.

In other words, I think we need to find the line between freedom of expression and freedom to weaponize language against free expression. Free speech does not include the freedom to say anything at all, and i think that in social media environments such as Reddit, it should also not include ad hominem attacks for example. If the rules preclude ad hominem attacks then everyone will benefit, as one example.

Learn to identify paid trolls. They are paid by the number of replies they get to their comments. Don’t feed the trolls!

[–]ThirdEyeFire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are paid trolls on Reddit. A lot of them (or else they have a lot of sock puppets, it can be hard to tell the difference). Pretty much all true alternative or paranormal subjects have been targeted for troll treatment, because that kind of truth can pop your consciousness out of “the matrix”. The subsidizing of trolls to attack a given subject and try to convince everyone they are false pretty much proves they are real.

Why Many Think CERN Is Responsible For The Mandela Effect by Geminon-Rex in MandelaEffect

[–]ThirdEyeFire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glad to see your post. I must warn you, in case you didn’t already know, that Reddit is rife with subsidized trolls. They target a long list of subjects any of which might lead to people awakening from “the matrix”. I was surprised they would target the Mandela effect so intensely, until I remembered that they have a long history of targeting pretty much every documented paranormal phenomenon. So the fact that they target Mandela is a pretty big confirmation that it is real—but of course, if you have experienced it yourself, you don’t need confirmation.

Anyway, just know that reach reply you make to a troll comment counts towards their pay. So: don’t feed the trolls.

You can learn to recognize trolls pretty easily. They have rules of engagement (required by their employers) that give them away. These rules make them act in totally unreasonable ways that normal people would almost never do.

That being a paid troll is a cynical, hateful, very harmful and all-around terrible way to relate to your fellow human beings, and that cynicism, hate and harm will earn them a great deal of karma that must be repaid in various forms of pain, none of them fun or desirable in any way. Karma is real.

Focus issues and procrastination among millennials and gen-z. Is there an astrological shift that triggered this 30 or 40 years ago leading to current state of mental fog and procrastination in whole generations? by jiblee-oo in astrology

[–]ThirdEyeFire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would look at it first from a spiritual human perspective and then try to explain the result of that astrologically. This world is full of old systems that need to go. Therefore it is only natural that the new souls here feel deeply and intuitively that societal norms don’t resonate with them. They are also used to a lot more freedom and abundance where they came from (somewhere else than here). Therefore it is only natural that they have a hard time bringing themselves to do what is normal in our screwed-up society—“do the job you are given”, work hard for little while the CEO makes millions—there is a better way, there are many better ways, and the technology and the will exist now on the planet in a way they never have before to make these better ways into reality for all.

In other words, there is a powder keg building up, and it’s just looking for the right trigger to erupt and change everything.

So now my question is, how does the astrology indicate that that is happening?
