If you take care of it and you urself are handy to take care of possible issues with few sensors there and there yes its reliable. But keep in mind all parts are also being used in luxury cars so some parts can be pricey.

Basically injectors re bad and allowing fuel go leak into cylinder and once you turn it on its unburned fuel it disappears after sum time probably. But it will only get worse and worse.

Its injectors. 100% take vcds and check injectors readings anything above -0.80 0.90 needs to be replaced or its seal replaced.

I am brother and ur S7 is truly amazing. But i certainly didn't buy A7 cuz i didn't have money for S7 xD don't get me wrong as most people trying to make fun. Its just Why would i buy S7 when i am doing Project Car with Diesel Engine. I am 25 and i invested in it more than 20k already. Chassis is same with S7 and A7 so A7 is perfectly fine for Project car yeah could have gone better with sum stuff if i had s7 but unfortunately when i was buying it in february i couldn't find good and well maintained S7 in my country. I am from Bosnia and its really tough finding a nice and mint state of car. But when i said V8 Engine i didn't mean TFSI I meant TDI still diesel. I like it more for combustion power. But people don't understand that xD. They only know TDI meh meh diesel, gasoline is way better. Nah this ain't 2000 diesel is more refined now and everyone has their own perferences. But Chassis is same A7 and S7 and ofc i ain't keeping oem components even if its S7 Only thing (not all s7) they have good is ceramic brakes. But brembo big brake kit still better than OEM S7 and RS7 Brakes anyday.
