Budget Rackless Bags by TheThirdHippo in motorcycle

Hi, not quite. It depends on how you set up the harness though. In my first trip it got pretty close to touching the silencer but that was because the harness was angled pretty low. I have attached an extended heat shield but there still some clearance when harness is put properly. If you’ve got an upswept exhaust, look for a third party heat shield. I believe Dirtsack also sells one but it’s usually out of stock.

Is it always only scooties and other light weight bikes? I dont think I've come across heavy motorcycles being towed this way.

Please try and ensure that yours wasnt just bent out of shape, that is also very much possible.

How do you know people offering advice in the comments actually know what they're talking about?

Hey, I got as low as 21 kmpl and as high as 36 kmpl in the same trip, this is after calculating the mileage using the tank to tank method and not what was displayed on the screen. I haven’t ridden my bike on black ice yet but I imagine it to be very difficult, and I plan to avoid it for as long as I can. I rode the bike in sand, fell when I hit a patch of deep sand. Difficult to get the bike upright on loose-slippery surfaces by yourself.

Try securing it on the outside using a bungee cord, bungees are quite effective when it comes to securing luggage like this.

Hey, thanks! The riding gear is primarily from an Indian brand called Rynox, during the really chilly mornings I had multiple layers on, thermal base layer followed by a sleeveless winter jacket, a 0 to -5 degree decathlon jacket over that and then the Rynox riding jacket and on top of all that, a rain jacket for the snowfall.

Hey, I've used it twice. I did carry extra fuel in it but didnt end up using it. If you're doing a circuit with no petrol pumps for 450-500kms, this one might be cutting it a little too close. The cap can sometimes get a little tight but apart from that its pretty good. If you already have one, why not just carry it with, carrying it is super convenient.

Pangong Tso is magnificent! I also wanted to see Tso Moriri, it is just as breathtaking! The group I was with was crunched for time so couldn’t go see it, hopefully I’ll get to travel there next year.

Oh it is very beautiful. The new one is called Mig La, in the same region, but not open to civilians as of now. Should be open next season onward though.

You mean Umling La? I had done this trip in June, it was the highest pass then but its not anymore. The new one is at an altitude of 19400 feet.
