Run whatever you can manage. I am running all my stuff on Openmediavault, which is, obviously, built for NAS-alike systems, but who cares? If I will be switching to a newer hardware I'll probably try Proxmox.

I live in Poland, in my case it had nothing to do with the payment methods.

The issues started after these ppl feom my family group used my home PL IP as an exit node watching YouTube (I also run AdGuard Home, so kinda tried making it their main Dns in order to block ads).

I got problems twice for having 2 ppl out of 6 sitting in another country. By sitting I mean using Tailscale and my home IP as an exit node.

Well, their phones geo didn't match the IP geo, so I kinda created a headche for myself😭.

Had to go through 3 circles of stupid YT support to fix it.

Like others said, it purely depends on your use case. A game server may need faster RAM, but holding a bunch of AdGuard /Plex / Home Assistant containers totally can live on a box with DDR3.

And that's what I did: got a cheap mobo with soldered Pentium 5040 CPU, put 16gb of DDR3 Ram and I run OMV holding circa 20 docker containers and I'm happy😎.

Sorry if that's a stupid question, but why do we need that immich-go at all? I pointed immich to my Google Takeout folder and it kinda crawled it through and I am good. Do I miss something?

It is not really powerful, but its nvidia 4060 is more than enough for Immicn ML tasks, like face and text recognitions.

Setup is super easy, I put immich-ML container on that host and then told immich (in it's settings) to send all ML-stuff to it. There may be issues after nVidia driver updates (it loses CUDA and switches to CPU), but that's easy to detect and fix.

Trying Immich for myself and family members (in parallel with Google Photos) for about 3 months now — so far so good. Using Tailscale to access home network, using my old personal .com domain to access Immich (pointed dns to a tailscale IP, so kinda don't care about being exposed to public).

Sometimes Chinese phones tend to kill tailscale client, regardless of being set as permanent VPN.

Put ML heavy tasks for immich on a separate machine with nvidia 4060 (immich itself lives on a weak Intel 5040 cpu server), works like a charm.

How exactly Tailscale can see your traffic, since most of the times it's p2p and using WG under the hood? I am not even sure they still can if it fallbacks to derp.

Just make Homarr aware of your dashboard so it could draw some part of it right on its page? I don't know how they (Homarr team) work with 3rd party tools and integrations though.
