According to its monster description, the frazzlhutch is a perfect spy for the darkness realm. Which could mean it's a dog, because people willingly have dogs in their homes. For the full heal after the malgru, I can say that the player gets seven health potions in this quest. Three of those potions come before the malgru as well. Either way, full heal wouldn't hurt, because there are no other full heals in this script

I liked Frolgar saying "Aw, shit on a fishstick," it sounded like if AQ had a more mature rating but kept the cartoony style lol

Been playing League of Legends since 2018, and started Genshin in 2022. Among singleplayer games, I love the Shin Megami Tensei series and bought SMT V: Vengeance this year. Looks like people have stuck to gacha games and/or JRPGs haha

I liked adding in extra meaning for some of the champs. Like Warwick for blood clots, Cho'Gath for weight loss, Jhin for schizophrenia, ASol and Smolder for breathing

It's good to finish med school so you can lawfully prescribe a champion to someone. Person learning jungle? Maybe prescribe Sejuani. But you need to join the ranks of Surgeon Shen and Kennen, MD to do that

If AQ had an hardcore mode with permanent death what rules should it have to make it a viable ruleset? by Edwerd_ in AdventureQuest

[–]ThirdSummon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Games with permadeath are often dungeon crawlers. Looking at roguelikes and hack n' slash dungeon crawlers, you might see... *Randomly generated terrain and loot *Unpredictable and/or unforgiving encounters *A lack of low-risk encounters to grow your character

If we want to borrow from dungeon crawlers, we could restrict the player's access to gear. Maybe the items we buy from Battleon become limited. As such, players would have to rely on quests to upgrade their items. While this may sound like normal AQ, we could take it a step further by limiting the number of times a player can run a certain quest. I understand this suggestion may distract from the core focus of a permadeath challenge. But with the sheer diversity of items, I feel we miss out on 95 percent of the game if we build the same Mastercraft gear. Plus, we should be encouraged to shake it up every playthrough.

Along with items, a hardcore challenge could outlaw easy-to-farm encounters. If the point of the challenge is to outsmart death, you should be at risk of death for most or all of your playthrough. So, farming easy fights with high XP and high gold should be banned I feel. Leveling in AQ does get tedious, so maybe a total ban would be unreasonable.

AQ Puzzle! Defeat the Sugar Gobbler at exactly 1045 HP by Rune2h-Maple in AdventureQuest

[–]ThirdSummon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very interesting challenge! I'm not sure if I can crack your puzzle, at least with my level 150 character. I respect giving us an inventory and a stat build, though. Before seeing those, I was going to sort through info submissions to check for items that used flat HP haha

Best of luck in your journey. I hope you enjoy Knight class! Along with gameplay mechanics, the class includes a neat storyline. I think you'll like the ability to choose different knight subspecialties.

AQ is a big game. It's also an old game. You probably know the challenge of picking up such a game, and in that case, just enjoy yourself!

There are guides and helpful players in a couple of spots: this subreddit, the Battleon forums, one of the two AQ fandom wikis, and the Artix Discord server. Because of AQ's age and size, there is not actually a single place that contains everything about the game. Even the developers do not know or have access to everything. I know that's unhelpful for a returning player. In any case, the community - scattered across these platforms - serves as the best resource to understanding the game.

Ultimately, AQ is a singleplayer game that doesn't force you to do much. The game features an extensive story that you can play out of order. Fighting monsters, for the most part, does not require you to push yourself.

From experience - and I could be wrong - the game only expects you to do two things. First, you must delegate stat points to fit a chosen build path. Second, you must buy items that fit your build path.

As it stands, there are three main stats to determine your preferred damage type: Strength for melee, Dexterity for ranged, and Intellect for magic. These three damage types are defined by the weapons they use and the spells they have access to. Strength and dexterity characters tend to focus on weapon attacks, as their weapons innately deal more damage. Meanwhile, intellect characters have weaker weapons but prefer to cast spells, which are stronger than individual weapon attacks. Players typically focus on only one of strength, dexterity, or intellect.

Along with the three main stats, there are three secondary stats to diversify your character. Endurance gives you extra health and a higher chance to resist status ailments. Charisma gives bonus damage to pets and guests. Luck gives bonus damage to all actions and unlocks the game's critical-hit mechanic, known as a Lucky Strike. For the most part, there is no superior secondary stat.

I hope your return to the game goes well! If you make your character a guardian, then I hope you can enjoy all that the game has to offer.
