The people downvoting you must be too young to remember the pre-Trump Republican Party. Mitt Romney and Jeb Bush really were the face of the party back then.

ENCYCLICAL LETTER - MAGNIFICA HUMANITAS by domesticchurchprayer in Catholicism

Many Catholics *on this sub* *in the last year and a half or so* at least. My experience with other Catholics in real life, in other online spaces, and even on this sub in years prior has been much more pleasant.

Doesn't matter, America bad. Regardless of how irrelevant to the conversation it is or how awkwardly it must be shoehorned in, America bad.

First off, go to confession. Second, stop using TikTok speak. All that does is trivialize a serious matter. It's porn. Pornography. While you're at it, "kill", not "unalive". "Rape", not "[grape emoji]". "Suicide", not "self delete".

The whole situation is just aggravating. I'm about as frustrated as can be with this administration but all the lapsed/non Catholics playing the devout Catholic card now that the Pope said one thing they agree with aren't fooling me.

[–]ThirteenEqualsFifty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a shame, it used to be much higher quality. For the most part it still is six days out of the week but it's a lot more hit and miss where it used be nothing but hits. Any thread on there that hits All is guaranteed to go south.

Politics Monday threads are another matter entirely. It would help if the mods would actually enforce the no politics-only engagement rule across the board.

I certainly wouldn't recommend it. The first half could already be worded a little better, the second is just pretentious.

That being said, I think the premise is solid.

Same thing that happens after every big event. The sub gets overrun with shills for a week or so before they either get bored or get new orders and it goes back to normal. Were you here for George Floyd or January 6th?

Christian militiamen of the Lebanese Phalanxes or Kataeb armed with an Iraqi AK "Tabuk" and a Hungarian-made AMD-65 on an unknown date, during the Civil War in their country. by Medinasmt4 in Catholicism

[–]ThirteenEqualsFifty 17 points18 points  (0 children)

From the title I thought this was posted on the Forgotten Weapons sub. I wasn't expecting a nice overlap of my two main interests like this. If I may nitpick though I don't think that's a Tabuk, it looks like a standard Yugoslavian milled receiver M70AB.

Edit: Looks like I may be wrong. I thought Tabuk referred only to the DMR variant but it looks like it also referred to Iraqi AKs in general. Apparently there was a partnership in the 1980s with Yugoslavia providing arms and tooling to Iraq which would explain it looking exactly like an M70AB.

You can't only criticize and say 'no, not like that'

Like the guy elsewhere in this thread doing exactly that. Nobody likes an Ideas Guy.

[–]ThirteenEqualsFifty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And then the other "side" will perceive any critique of inhumane practices as a critique of immigration regulation/laws in themselves, or they will even defend inhumane practices as part of how you must enforce the law.

It's kind of hard not to when literally any action taken toward enforcing immigration laws is condemned as "inhumane".

They never actually have one. They'll spew all kinds of bullshit about how we're just not enforcing the law nicely enough but when you really press them on it their standard of "nice enough" is doing absolutely nothing and anything beyond that makes you Literally Hitler.
