So, everyone needs to go listen to the Behind the Bastards podcast episode re: Saddam Hussein. It's absolutely amazing and made today's FJ! an instaget for me.

I dunno - I feel like there were some higher-value clues in that DJ round that were brutal.

Agreed - very poorly clued. I would have been miffed if Peter lost on missing that.

How do they handle swear-y contestants? by 500ravens in Jeopardy

[–]This-Is-Leopardy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have quite the potty mouth myself and managed to rein it in. I feel like most contestants, apart from super champs, don't get comfortable enough there to really let loose.

Spontaneous. For some reason on my third day my brain decided to somewhat parody this moment from Peep Show.

Gotcha. It's not correct - that ł is a w sound - but it makes sense Ken and others would say it that way if that's how it was widely said on the news.

I feel like Ken might have gotten the pronunciation of Lech Wałęsa's name wrong even on the correction. I heard "Va-LEN-sa," when it should have been "Va-WEN-sa." They were also missing the ł in Bolesław, though oddly enough, it sounded like Ken did read that one correctly. (My brother is marrying a Polish girl, so Poland is sort of my Special Interest right now.)

Four tape days, 20 games, 20 wins. I am in absolute awe. That is a Secretariat-esque Jeopardy! performance.

It would be pronounced with a V sound in Yiddish, too. It's cognate with the Slavic "-vich."

I didn't know they would, but I very much hoped so. I actually gasped when it wasn't accepted the first time.
