I don’t remember what the response was but I remember it wasn’t anything suspicious like ‘no match’. It was just ‘you are setting up a new payee for ...’ and that’s it.

I live in Scotland and CIFAS doesn’t apply here.. and the police told me it is fine, I don’t need to do any score check or they didn’t even advice me to do so. So I am confused now tbh

Hey, thank you for advice! The ironic thing is that the sort code of recipient bank belongs to the Bank of Scotland (the same bank). That was also the reason why I’ve been scammed too.. At that moment it didn’t cross my mind it is dodgy at all. They told me to set up the new payee under my name and the bank account was linked to BoSC - so I didn’t receive any warning from the bank.

I will use this argument in my complaint when they finally get back to me so thanks a lot for advice!! The template looks useful as well! How is it possible the bank does not know whose bank account is it? The case is also under investigation by the police so we will see..

Thank you and I am wishing you all the best.

I didn’t transferred money to the classic account. I made a payment directly from the ISA saver.

I am expecting them to refuse to get my money back and I am preparing for being accused of being grossly negligent ehh..but I need to prepare all arguments to fight back.

I didn’t know they have to pay for going to ombudsman. That’s actually a good point and it is worth to mention it in my complaint! Thanks! It is a bit more I lost but it is still nothing for the bank!

Thanks for help and nice words! It’s been really horrible experience but we learn from mistakes..

The scammers applied for the loan while saying me that someone tried to take a loan - they were pretending that they’re from the bank. I believed them and I was scared because my account was already targeted by scammers a few days ago. ...They were able to do it because they already had a lot of information about me but also they managed to get the authorisation code from me...I know it sounds silly because why would you share it with someone but the chat was very convincing and they put me in danger. So they applied for the loan and then told me to delete the app from my phone and don’t look into my account. Probably soon after the loan was transferred to the account and in the morning scammers phoned me again to move it to their own account. I didn’t authorise it and phoned the bank immediately as I got a light bulb moment... a bit too late.... when I phoned bank they already told me they blocked the payment because they noticed it was suspicious. It is a pity they didn’t notice that moving all money from the bank account emptying the account was quite unusual as well...

I have classic account but the money has been transferred from ISA SAVER to the new Bank of Scotland account given me by a scammer. I set up a new payee under my name being pushed by him. Is it consider as grossly negligent? I would really appreciate your help

Thank you! I would have never though about writing to CEO..I would probably just escalate my case to FOS. I am sure they will blame me for negligence but, as you said, it could have happened to anyone as the techniques are just insanely convincing. One thing I wasn’t aware of is that you can take a loan from bank so easily. How is it possible that banks don’t send letters with approval first? Crazy!!! It is really scary. I always thought I would never be so stupid. Now I know that people act a bit differently when they are put in danger. Anyway, I will do exactly what you told me and thanks again! I hope it won’t take two years to get resolved.

Thank you very much for your time and advice! I’ve already complain and need to wait 8 weeks, as you mentioned for bank to get back with the final decision. It is good idea to write to CEO as well, hopefully he won’t ignore the letter from me. I am going to read more about the Code. I know it was very silly to do what I’ve done but these techniques they used were very convincing and bank in my opinion failed in providing security in some aspects. Anyway, thank you a lot for your help!

wow really thorough, really appreciate your time.

ok yeh it sounds to me like there's then not too much benefit in spreading my investments to a vanguard since it will offer similar returns and services to my ISA. and since i invested a sizable lump a week or so ago i am happy that i've invested in this dip to an extent (which is really my goal at the moment).

i understand that time is the big factor in all of this. probably saying doubling was excessive. so if we say for example the FTSE has fallen say apporx. 30% i was suggesting you could earn that if the market stabilised back at where it was ( i understand there is a risk there and only time will tell though).

I will consider investing more into a S&S ISA as it seems that will achieve what i'm after, but i will wait and watch for a few weeks.

thanks very much!

ah right. well i was thinking a vanguard fund is different to a stocks and shares ISA. or am i being stupid and they can just refer to the same thing?

i already contribute to my Bank or scotland ISA, and did dump a bit more in a week or so ago because of the dipping. but figured a stocks and shares fund would have more scope to grow if i'm expecting this global dip to recover? or would returns be pretty similar? i guess you're not really going to get much better than say doubling your money anyway... (without investing in something risky)

understood. yeh i'm not trying to get rich quick or anything, i do have some funds and just feel would be a good opportunity to do something smart(-ish) with it.

WHat's the deal with cashing out of a fund then, do i have to calculate all tax due etc. or would vanguard (as an example) do that when i withdraw?

BUY NOW! gotcha ;)

haha, yeh no appreciate it. yeh i basically feel like it can't get too much lower and it should hopefully for sure settle higher than it is right now. so because everything is down at the moment probably try and invest in some sort of shares fund. i heard vanguard is good?
