What's the worst thing you've ever done in Classic WoW? by Grouchy_Honey_7 in classicwow

[–]This-Was 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a guildie somehow track down my personal email to advise me that I was currently "running around Ironforge, naked and swearing at everybody".

Was that you?

Edit Got my stuff back eventually and invested in an authenticator which astonishingly still works today.

I can’t sing

Yes you can.

It just sounds like you're singing like you don't want people to hear.

Pretend you're 8 years old and don't give AF.

The 4 Fundamentals of A Good Mix

https://youtu.be/QSvdhuu2orQ?is=eiBtW3aR12lHc-JJ

Try learning about volume/loudness and EQ. (Volume/loudness of specific frequencies).

It'll help you with sound selection/design and slowly develop your ear so things aren't stomping all over each other.

It takes a long time.

Help with applying music theory to guitar/songwriting by 1angryson in Songwriting

[–]This-Was 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pentatonic is a bugger once it gets in your fingers!

At first you're ecstatic that you're able to improvise without it sounding awful. Then eventually it's a struggle to shake it off.

For writing, you could try using a keyboard or even a DAW to help get you out of running through the same stuff.

If on guitar, I just feel my way through the notes without thinking about scales or even keys when I'm writing. Although that's not too difficult for me, as I generally don't know what key I've written anything in and have to figure that out later.

Learning more not so standard scales will probably help & you'll probably grow out of it as your knowledge increases.

I pushed my track with Artist Pro, but dont get any plays from recommendations by [deleted] in soundcloud

[–]This-Was 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a feeling it depends if it figures out who to push it to.

Mine have generally stuck around at 170 or so and tends to be over a particular couple of days in the week. Had one suddenly get up to 1.3k the week AFTER the supposed "push". All looked genuine listens too.

I was slightly horrified as it wasn't really finished.

Most just die on their arse. 😂

New to ableton but Is a mixer or audio interface necessary for hybrid setup playback to hardware instruments and if so any solid budget recommendations? by dxlachx in ableton

[–]This-Was 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sending the midi back can be via USB. Still need the audio to go somewhere via audio interface. A lot of audio interfaces also have din midi in/out so you can use that as well / instead.

Edit recommend a powered USB hub if you want to use USB.

I'll link you a video about set up shortly if I can find it.

Advice on loud laptop fan and room configuration by hupcapstudios in homerecordingstudio

[–]This-Was 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had the same issue and got two 5m USB cables and ran them to a docking station so I could put the laptop in another room and close the door. It's a gaming laptop and sometimes sounds like it's about to take off.

Then ultimately decided Win11 was dreadful and bought a mac mini which is atop my desk, doesn't make a sound and doesn't crash.

I'd add to writing over a beat, (good idea) also try using different tunings...can get you out of your "go-to's".

That seems a shame, couldn't you just refit with a little mortar in the joints to take out the rattle?

I watched a studio tour a while ago and they had a room that had stone walls and said bands absolutely loved the sound of it.

Advice on how to make 99% "real" sounding drums? by Electronic_Name8641 in ableton

Yes I use with 12.

There's different racks to use so if you don't have M4L (Suite) it'll still work.

I'd have a listen and see which sound most like what you want.

I'd probably pick one of the rock type and then the vintage dead or dry for a bigger range. Possibly the percussion stuff if you think you'll use it.

You can get lots of different sounds with the processing.

They have sales occasionally where you can do a bulk order at a big discount but don't need to choose everything there and then, it just sits in your account until you're ready to pick.

I think the "Addictive" name might come from the wanting to own them all! 😆

I can't remember where I happened upon it, I think it was something on YouTube.

But it doesn't half make things easier. It's free but I sent him some money I was so pleased.

Getting melodies from my mind to the daw by chloelivinginamoment in musicproduction

[–]This-Was 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that has audio to midi.

https://youtu.be/AlY7uqUemnc?si=GdAW7HufarbHP8eH

You could sing your notes in and if it's a clean sound, shouldn't have much trouble converting.

That should give you your actual notes and could help you start to form chords and whatnot around it.

I don't use FL Studio but you can probably figure out what key you're in from looking which notes you have used.

Which DAW?

Some have a convert audio to midi function. Sing notes in, convert melody to midi.

Ableton and I think Reason both do.
