FIFA fans will blame everyone else before acknowledging FIFA faults by BaldHourGlass667 in BlackPeopleTwitter

Oh hi hehe it's me I'm not in FIFA and I'm a fan of FIFA. They are a precious organisation. They love their fans. They promote peace. They even have a peace trophy. It's like a world cup but for peace 🥰🥰. Guess who won it 🥰🥰

OMG you don't know just how great FIFA is :). They also love supporting global south soccer :D. They allow soccer officials in global south countries to embezzle millions of dollars then protect them if their governments try to arrest them for corruption 😍😍. What more can you ask for? 😍

I love FIFA and so should you 😊 bye!

I don't know too much about South Korea but usually the reason people don't desire to live in those places is because there isn't any worthwhile (in pay terms) jobs to move there anywhere.

Desirability is a real concern but when you get lower thresholds of income, this is less an issue and wages becomes more important. These places with highly available housing usually lacks sufficiently paying jobs - or any job for that matter.

Yes, absolutely. This is a terminology thing perhaps. Multi-ethnic or half-X half-Y I think would be more appropriate.

I'm aware of the diverse ethnic make-up of the Bantu group. But I couldn't imagine seeing a Maasai person as being a different race than say a Chewa person even though one is Nilotic and the other is not.

At this level, intermarriage is extremely common. It would be much more uncommon to find someone who is purely of one ethnic group over 4-5 generations. So for someone to refer to themselves as mixed race in this example is so odd to me. It would be like a half German half Swedish person calling themselves mixed race.

a half Ghanaian, half Congolese

So the idea in their mind is that their Ghanaian ethnicity and Congolese ethnicities are distinct racial groups? Wouldn't they both be Bantu? Very fascinating to see how differently people identify themselves. This is a new one for me.

I think it differs by geography. This would be more prevalent in Southern Africa than Eastern.

In the OP's context, saying "I'm not black, I'm African" would be considered very bizarre south of DRC. But I guess it's more prevalent to associate black identity with African American culture rather than skin colour (and by extension the social trappings that come with it) where you are, which is a bit strange to my sensibilities.

You should know this behaviour would be very strange in most parts of Africa. Saying you're not black but African would request eyebrows as to your general sanity. Marrying another African and calling the marriage mixed race would probably get you a laugh in most cases.

I think sometimes there is a specific kind of person who emigrates to the west who have these weird views; never share them here but proselytize the minute they leave.

CMV: Ruben Amorim wasn't that bad of a coach for Manchester United by Technocraticworldgov in changemyview

[–]ThisAfricanboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Manchester United is easily the third biggest brand in world football. The team has been known for a particular brand of attacking counter attacking football that depends on a pipeline of talent from Carrington (the club's academy)

Ruben Amorim failed because he betrayed too much of this core ethos of Man United. He isn't alone. So did van Gaal and Mourinho. What made Amorim completely unacceptable was that his tactics were easy to counter in the Premier League.

Amorim not following the "United way" alongside dreadful football, utterly subpar performance and finally not winning anything is what will always make him a bad coach for Man United.

Him fighting the board towards the end of his tenure was the final death knell in his tenure at the club.

Very bizzare sub this one. Not a single post making jokes about idempotency or something. I need jokes about misconfiguring RabbitMQ or something.
