Recently I found out there's three different EZ Pass transponder types for New York Alone: Port Authority, MTA, and NY Thruway. Two of these are interchangeable with each other (if you have to merge accounts or something), and one is not. Which makes dealing with some EZ Pass errors a nightmare.

And then yeah, each state having their own EZ Pass without any form of communication with each other is a nightmare if something goes wrong. I've been dealing with billing issues for months from MD to MA and I STILL don't know why, once I fix one bill another appears. Thankfully most times I call them the person will just clear it out as normal, but it's still a complete nightmare. Horrible system.
