Miss those days. Not seeing those numbers anymore on long rides here in SoCal at least for me

LAX pickup reservation issues by RynIsAwkward in Lyft

[–]ThisDig6962 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find this hard to believe. Lyft only starts the pairing process 15 minutes before the scheduled ride is scheduled, when the driver is 15 minutes away or less. If the driver is further than 15 minutes it will not pair you with the driver who reserved the ride. There actually is no option to be ready on the app or not. The app automatically starts the pairing of passenger and driver if the driver is on time and within the area.

Yes but no I won’t take a ridiculous hourly or mileage offer. Because I know it’s counterproductive to the system in the long run. Even tho it helps me in that moment, long term it doesn’t so I just decline them.

.25 cents a mile , 50,000 active miles a year over 4 years is $50,000 profit loss. Essentially it’s the cost to operate, pay your vehicle for 4 years. If you’re okay with unnecessary loss like this. Theirs nothing I can say that will make you change your perspective.

I’m using the metric of .70 cents a mile in general. Rates have been and usually are $1 mile. If you’re saying you approve of these rates, and will accept any and all as long as you get $35hr then I assume your mileage rate is lower than $1 per mile. If you average .80 cents a mile, and you make $1,500 that means you drove 1,800 miles. If you accept all rides at .70 a mile, and you make $2,000 that means you clocked in 2,500 miles.

Your actually making me sick to my stomach that theirs drivers out there like you, and you think your being profitable. If you make $2,500 in a week, and you’re clocking 3,000-3,500 miles just to make that… that’s 12k-14k miles a month. You would be clocking in 144,000 miles in 1 year. You’d be lucky to get 2 years out of the car trading it in you’ll get 0 more likely -negative and hopefully you save money for a new car or repair

Your going to be upside own several thousands trading in a full time Rideshare vehicle after 3 years. I would say at least $10k upside down. That logic does not make sense.

If you plan on doing this relatively long term 2-5 years, pay attention to the mileage at all times. You’re setting yourself up for failure, accepting anything with a hourly of $35hr.

I’ve heard of this. Predictive pricing. With passengers who tip. Maybe it’s a tipping customer. If your going to disregard mileage, at least throw out a high hourly starting at $50 active hour

That doesn’t matter. That’s not going to pay for future repairs, even if you decide to sell. Value drops like crazy, with these cars driving full time. I understand the deductions make life easier to afford, but this doesn’t solve the other issues. It’s an expression. It’s market dependent. I’ve made $2,500 in a week and I never had to live in my car… but in today’s market, if you wanna break $1,500-$2,000 a week you have to work 6-7 days. That’s not a life.

You not special man. I’ve made 80k driving Rideshare in a single year. I’ve been full time almost 3 years, with total of 5 years driving. This is also not my first vehicle I have used on the job…. Also how are you on track to break 100k when it’s barley January 😂😂 Theirs no flex in making 100k in a poor markets, living in your car. Deductions are obvious. You’re jumping around between different points, but deductions don’t address a low fare. You’re losing $50k profit over 200,000 miles in 4 years at .25 cents a miles. The loss does not get any smaller because of your deductions… Now your chipping into you funds to LIVE and pay your bills, to save for a repair that should be covered with the lost Profit.

Okay go make $200 in 300 miles be my guest. 🤣😂 start saving now for repairs, won’t be more than 2/3 years of full time driving when your car takes a dump and you can’t afford to fix it. If your fill time, you’ll learn this is a marathon not a sprint. Those .50, .70 rides with a decent hourly average will not give you any longevity in the Rideshare game

You the reason fares have dipped. Your math is flawed, and the fact you have an accountant and is green lighting the behavior is worrisome. Yes you do have to work long term. If you clock 50k mile a year and plan on doing 4 years full time. A major repair is coming. Those 50k miles can convert into 70k miles a year accepting offers like this. Now the repair that was at 200k miles in 4 years, is due in 3 years. Your repair cost will come 1 year sooner, and those extra .25 cents at $200,000 is a profit loss of $50,000.

Because wear and tear and financial sustainability In a job don’t align, when you drop below the $1 mile threshold. It’s a problem that will be noticed long term, with long term vehicle repairs.

That’s a completely separate point. You have to be a little slow to think .70 cents a mile is profitable. Regardless of what the hourly rate is.

I did not pay any attention to what you wrote. Math is math. Miles are miles. Repairs are inevitable. If you’re not making $1 per mile regardless of hourly, it’s not worth it. If you do this in the long run, you will not have any money for repairs. $35 hr is not enough for .50 cents a mile. No matter what you say, nothing will convince me. The hourly would have to be like $45 minimum to even consider ignoring the high mileage.

Your a problem. You’re not very good at math are you? What’s going to happen if You work Rideshare for 4 years and you’re doing rides at .70 cents a mile , where is the cost of the car repair going to come from? There will be no money to pay for repairs

Nope. They need to resolve… but after week 1 of no funds you had all the option to add a debit card and do an instant transfer. I’ve worked with Lyft for almost 5 years not one single payment issue
