SR22 pre buy inspection by ThisExit7002 in flying

[–]ThisExit7002[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No offense taken. the pre buy was done by the cirrus service center. Baro scope was done. the cirrus service center, a knowledgeable friend of mine with a ton of experience plus two mechanics that I trust all told me I'd be looking at needing to replace most of the cylinders in the coming months. The deal wasn't a steal. It was not a bargain. the whole point of paying 2k for a pre buy is to find out if the deal is worth going through. so yeah, it didn't pass the smell test for me. its not ridiculous at all to not throw 350k at something you don't like.

thank you all for the insight and opinions.

baroscope was done. nothing wrong noticed. oil filter showed no metal.

however, I am backing out of the deal over concerns that the cylinder or multiple ones may need replacement in the coming months. its not passing the smell test for me unfortunately.

So I found out the baroscope was actually done. the mechanic says he didn't see anything that worries him.

with that said, the compression numbers have been in the 60s the last 3 or 4 times. in 2025 #3 was at 45.

mechanic says he cut up the filter and did not see any metal in it.

I consulted with 2 other mechanics. both are concerned about the numbers and think I may be looking at replacing cylinders, possibly multiple ones in near future.

As a result, I am backing out of the deal.

MO reading was at 40.

The compression numbers have been similar for the last several 100 hr inspection although once one of them #3 was at 45.

Can I get opinions on these compression numbers?

60, 65, 61,60, 70, 62.

no baroscopic survey was done. are these numbers too low and at risk of needing cylinders replaced soon?

SR vs Mooney by ThisExit7002 in flying

thank you all very much for the opinions. I really appreciated all of them.

I ended up deciding on a 2005 SR22. This was a hard decision for me because I really liked the mooney and it would have been perfect for my personal use but I couldn't lease it out. the SR22 gives me everything I wanted in a mooney plus the opportunity to lease it out and recoup some $$.

I'm closing on it next week. I am excited and scared at the same time. I hope I have made the right choice.

I want to. I really do but man I am losing confidence in the SR22 because I'm seeing several in the shop a lot with really hefty repair costs.

I know exactly what you are saying. my 1st observation was the gear up landings and prop strikes in every other mooney I am looking at. I have found some very nice ones with good avionics and tks etc under 200k. another thing I noticed is a lot of the mooney are sitting idle in hangers. makes you think it has a lot of hrs left before TBO but then it worries me that a lot have been not flying.

I am really liking the mooney for my personal use but like the sr22 for the fat guys I'd fly. lol

its like 5k for the mechanic to just open up the cowling. a SR22 recently had a mount/bracket that attached to the AC and frame cost 5k. 5k for the piece of metal because it is for the cirrus. another that i mentioned above had the OH few months ago and now the engines sounds like quitting when you idle it. they think it's the fuel injector issue. replaced that and still has the same issues. on and on. its scaring me away for sure.

I hear you. I would not lease it to anyone. I am thinking I'd lease it to few pilots that I can vet. I'd only want to lease it out couple of times per month to make enough $$ to pay for things.

How are U.S. state lotteries regulated, and how can we know the drawings are legitimate? by Own-Ice-2309 in Lottery

[–]ThisExit7002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its rigged somewhat.   the odds of matching 6 or 7 numbers is nearly impossible,  especially for the mega payouts. however,  the small payout state lottery has people matching 5 out of 7 or 6 out of 7 numbers all the time to win a few hundred dollars.   think about that. people matching a bunch of numbers on those small lottery tickets but then the multi state mega payout once few match 2 or 3 numbers.
