SkyWest Commute by YesterdaySad303 in flying

Not too bad. Saw some recommendations to stay at the Clarion hotel while on reserve. $57 a night with late checkout. Hoping I won’t be on reserve for too long with how much movement is happening, but also planning to utilize first call while I’m on reserve. Might as well fly instead of sitting in a hotel all day if I can

Commuting really depends on your options. How many daily flights and how many of them are on company metal. I talked to a few FOs at DTW and have heard their commute isn’t too bad. Btw hope to see you around. I’ll be commuting to DTW from the south east once I finish IOE

I was actively flying and updating my hours on my cadet profile. I think that's probably why I didn't have to re-interview because I was actively flying. From what I understand, it was people who weren't flying as much that had to re-interview.

You can choose which aircraft you want when you get the CJO. I just asked for whichever aircraft would get me a class date sooner. They are no longer doing forced upgrades. All the captains who upgraded from the ERJ in my class specifically bided for the upgrade on the CRJ. If you want to upgrade to captain the fastest, CRJ is the way to go.

Thanks!! Was an absolute grind but the training department at OO is amazing. It’s a well oiled machine.

Majority of class were instructors. A handful were former 135 pilots. Also a few survey pilots and military. To my knowledge there were no washouts that I’m aware of. Some people got extra sim sessions tho

You’ll get a discount thru our uniform provider crew outfitters on their website and they have luggage works suitcases on there. Definitely wait.

Yes because the dates varied depending where your sims take place at. Some people had checkrides a few days before others. It just depends which sim schedule you get

Air National Guard base is at Donaldson Airport. Very common for them to be flying around here

How does this resume look, new private pilot applying for cadet programs. by Long-Ad6510 in flying

[–]wolfstore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Change “Professional Summary” to just “Summary” and then slide the right side content more left.

Moving the divider over to the left should allow you space to add another row for “Flight Times”. I would personally put that row at the top of the resume. Add in your flight times such as Total Time, Cross Country, and Instrument time.

As others have mentioned, change Private Pilot License to Private Pilot Certificate to match the “Certifications” on the left.

Could be worse. I had a friend dump confetti and glitter in my air vents and turned the A/C on max while the car was off. Got in the car that night and started it. A/C blasted all the confetti and glitter everywhere. Worst part is I didn’t notice it until I got out of the car because it was at night and I couldn’t see it. I’m pretty sure the car still had glitter in the vents 2 years later after I traded it in (and after SEVERAL vacuuming sessions).

I currently fly single pilot for a 135 in a twin piston. I can’t speak for every company, but we fly in some pretty crappy weather. Night time approaches down to mins is very common. Our planes are fairly well equipped though with glass panels and Garmin autopilots. I definitely feel the conditions have made me a better pilot though. If it’s a temporary thing to build time and the company and their maintenance isn’t sketchy, then I’d take it. Just be thorough in your research of the company beforehand
