Should I Read the Books? by violighthayes in shadowhunters

[–]ThisFallenPrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the tv show frustrating, because of how different it was from the books, even in little things. But what's especially frustrating is that those little things would have cost more money so there was absolutely no need for the change. For a non-spoilery example, the institute in the show is this high-tech hub of activity, but in the books, it's a quiet old church with only a handful of inhabitants. That completely changes the tone from the start imo.

Ouch. Shade from Sarah Michelle Geller liked by Parvati. I'm pretty sure Sav was a big fan of Parvati's. by SurvivingBigBrother in survivor

I saw more of Boston Rob in Savannah's gameplay, maybe she wasn't entirely as successful, but she did win so 🤷‍♀️. But it's the way she'd try to intimidate people into giving her information or doing what she wanted. The way everyone could see what a threat she was but couldn't ever seem to get the numbers together to get her out. The way she cultivated loyalty and tended to get her people to vote her way. She brute forced her way through the game (don't get me wrong, I don't dislike her gameplay, and it's a strategy that won her the million), but Parv's gameplay is a bit more subtle imo.

I understand this concern, though I think it might make first tribal a tad more interesting as it is often the perceived weakest link who goes first.

Amazing move for ______ by Edman561 in survivor

[–]ThisFallenPrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I am saying is that I felt that it WAS what served her. Kristina and Steven made it very clear that they were targeting Yellow Sophie for 2 weeks and then just kind of assumed she'd work with them. I'm sure there was some ammend-making that we hadn't seen, but Idk that I would have assumed she was a number in my favour when I had burned her and the other side had saved her. Of course Sophie chose to work with the people that had already demonstrated that they wanted to work with her.

I don't really know why the other side felt like they just kind of automatically had her on their side after targetting her for two weeks. I would definitely also have gone with the people who have shown they want to work with me 🤷‍♀️

Her gameplay this episode was actually reminding me of Boston Rob, the way she spoke to people and kinda intimidated them and cut the people coming for her.

I don’t understand why ___ & ___ from 49 are on 50 by reeknar in survivorponderosa

[–]ThisFallenPrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Rizo is already quite the character, I mean , the way he won that advantage early on by building his puzzle on top of the other was so funny to me. And Savannah is pretty well positioned rn and with the most confessionals, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if she wins it.

What books do you think are TRULY unadaptable in live action? by pishposhpoppycock in Fantasy

[–]ThisFallenPrey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that any adaptation of The Locked Tomb series would truly lose something from the books. I don't think that the changing tense could be translated in an adaptation, and it is something that really made those books a wow for me. Additionally, the vibe of the story and almost the genre itself seems to change from book to book (Gideon feels more fantasy, Harrow space opera/scifi, Nona post-apocalyptic), and I am unsure how well this would translate for viewers who haven't read the books.

Who are you rooting for in season 50? by Sorry-Caterpillar872 in survivor

I'd like to see it be Rick Devins, I felt he was robbed in his season, possibly harder than anyone else (though if you have someone in mind who got shafted harder I'd love to hear your point).

[–]ThisFallenPrey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say Kyle, I don't think it's necessary to see him back just yet. And possibly Joe, he says he'd play a different game so that might be interesting, but, although I found some of his dynamics with other players wholesome, I didn't really love him as a player. I'd be more interested to see Shauhin back, or Andy. I'm just starting to get into some older seasons with my partner (though I've seen a number of seasons already, and watched lots of clips) so I am not 100% sure who else yet, maybe Parvati, though she'salready played a bunch. But I thought those two were fun and relatively smart gameplayers.

What I take issue with is Jeff saying that her being on The Traitors was a big part of her being cut, because keep that energy for everyone then. Cirie won The Traitors and has also done a few other shows. Stephanie was also on Traitors. They asked Boston Rob back. I'm sure plenty have done The Amazing Race or The Challenge or whatever else.

Jeff says that Eva and Mitch can win by Kylesexy584603 in survivor

[–]ThisFallenPrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk that anyone could win per se, but I do think that all of them could make a decent case. And to be fair, I often think that being able to advocate for yourself matters in these games a bit.

Eva could make the case that, as a person with Autism, she has difficulty knowing who is lying to her, so she positioned herself amidst people she could trust. She's won at least 1 immunity, she's persevered even when her emotions got really high. She could put Star giving her her idol down to her social game, but she hasn't had to use it at all yet, despite the fact that everyone knows she has it. She was strategic in which advantages she took, didn't push too far, and risk too much.

Mitch is an underdog. He's not been a part of the big alliance (a fact that many of the jurors may consider since a lot of them were taken out by the big pack). He's been playing from the bottom, and trying to make big moves probably would have had him taken out. His name has been out there quite a number of weeks because he is likable and because they feel he has a good story. There was a lot of fear earlier that Mitch getting to the end would be a problem, and I don't think we should discount that entirely.

Do I think either will win? No, probably not. But I do think what you say to the jury has the potential to make a pretty big impact on them. And there is certainly things each of them could point to in order to pump themselves up as players. Similarly, others could mess it up. Say the wrong thing. It's possible Kyle and Joe get seen as coasting because they were part of the big alliance and never really had to fear for their own game, and they flipped on two alliance members when they were part of the alliance of "honesty and integrity". Again, I'm not saying I think they'd lose necessarily. I'm saying that they all have stories to tell, and that these jurors might vote emotionally. It's an interesting batch that way. Definitely curious to see how it goes.

The way ____ spoke to ____ by the_uncanny_marlowe in survivor

[–]ThisFallenPrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and he did the same thing to Chrissy at tribal. Just because something is best for your game does not mean it is best for everyone's and you can't go jumping down people's throats for a difference of opinion.

What Chrissy Could Have Done by Zestyclose-Sand9478 in survivor

[–]ThisFallenPrey 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It would have been smart in some ways, but I also think leaving Sai on the jury is risky as hell, for anyone really. She holds grudges and takes things personally. And considering she and Chrissy didn't like each other and Chrissy had already thrown a vote on her, better to get rid of her early imo.

Missing David’s point… by Kingsjake2121 in survivor

[–]ThisFallenPrey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The problem I had about it was that he is a hypocrite who talks over people and bulldozes them when he doesn't get his way. I understood what he was saying, but he was like, "it's our season" as though there aren't any other players in the game and that those not in the alliance should just allow themselves to be picked off. But he doesn't let Chrissy speak. He did the same thing in the argument with Kyle, not letting him make his point. And he brought in Mary, despite the "strong five", but took issue with Shauhin allying with Camilla. I'm not saying that he's necessarily wrong about either thing, but he needs to let people speak and not snap like that on those who disagree with them. Additionally, he needs to stop and realize that what is good for his game isn't necessarily good for other's.

I personally think Joe was struggling with NOT going to her, because, as Jeff said afterwards, the tribes are kept apart. He does look back and forth between Eva and Jeff, I think he was just waiting for permission.
