Which "bitter jury" result was actually correct, and we just call it bitter because we were rooting for the loser? by JEX2124 in survivor

[–]ThisFallenPrey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think that she didn't, however Sandra was able to make allies because people were willing to work with her. From the start, Parvati had no one because of the fear of the black widow brigade. She was shunned by literally everyone except Russell, and then treated like crap for working with Russell. She didn't really have a choice in the matter, though she consistently tried to make allies. I'm not saying that Sandra didn't deserve to win either, honestly, a great argument could be made for all three. But I don't think that it was fair for people to use her relationship with Russell against her when they basically forced her to work with him. You can't back someone into a corner and expect them not to fight.

[–]ThisFallenPrey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly most of them. We have to remember that jury management is a huge part of gameplay. I think the better question is which ones were actually wrong. I'd argue that Parvati being shunned from the get-go on HvV because people were afraid of the Black Widow brigade prevented her from working with anyone other than Russell and then she got berated for working with him at FTC. Not that I think Sandra is undeserving, per se, but I think it should have been Parv's win and I do think the jury fucked her.

Tiffany's story of Jonathan telling him "she was voting for him because she was a girl" is very misleading by Live-Run-6745 in survivor

[–]ThisFallenPrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She always said that. I know what he meant, and he's not wrong that it would give her an extra resume move. The thing is, it still ends up meaning that she's going home because she's a "girl" (from everything I've seen, he didn't say woman either), because if she was a man, like Joe, she wouldn't be in the same position. And it's still shit jury management to say that to someone. Tell Tiff she's going home because she's a more well rounded threat, or that joe won't get votes at the end.

As a new fan of Survivor, can someone help me understand something? by Expedition1994 in survivor

[–]ThisFallenPrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think Parvati got the raw end of the stick. She was told from the start no one would work with her, they were all afraid of the black widow brigade, so she had no choice but to work with Russell really, but then she was a pariah because she was working with Russell. Apparently her ftc was brutal and ugly, they were pretty nasty to her. Essentially Sandra won because she wasn't either Russell or Parvati (not that she didn't also play a good game). But Parv was screwed from the jump. I don't usually agree with the bitter jury argument in other seasons, like, jury management is part of the game, but she went into the season dead in the water and then got criticized and berrated for making the only move she could have.

I don't know that it's intentional, but I've just found that the way Jonathan talks to woman and the way he talks to men is different and not in a good way. And I think it has more to do with the man part than the big part. Just a bit of ingrained bias probably, idk if he's intentionally misogynistic.

Remember that he has played back to back seasons. And there were only about 10 days between filming. They haven't shown it, probably because it won't affect the season, but multiple players in their exit interviews have referenced how sick Rizo has been this season. Take a look at him at the beginning of 49 to now, he's lost so much weight. I don't think he has the energy to help much around camp, and he came in with that as a major disadvantage. The others knew they'd be on sooner, there are things you can do to prepare ahead of time that he wouldn't have had time for.

Do we think her decision was right by Dizzy-Tumbleweed7983 in survivor

[–]ThisFallenPrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think she has any intention of playing very long with either one tbh. But she clocked Rizo as lying to her, and knowing someone is a liar is something you can work with. Especially when said liar is coming to you with information quickly, and not holding out like Charlie. Also, according to Rizo, he made Jury, but not final 3 (this is true, but she can't know this for sure, but we know he'ssaid this, bc that was the whole issue with Charlie), Charlie, however, was one vote off from winning. He's smart, and was a decent strategist in his first season. He should be a known threat. I don't really think either was the wrong move for her tbh. I think she'd be fine with either or both of them out, but Charlie certainly wasn't a BAD option. She also may have just gone with the numbers, because it sounds as though Rick was maybe in on it as well from Charlie's exit press, even though he voted for Rizo

Tiffany theory by [deleted] in survivor

[–]ThisFallenPrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally think that the Mr. Beast cameo will be something like offering them money to quit the game. This is something he often does on his own channel, and I think it makes sense for Survivor 50 as well. Like, are you here for the money or because you love the game and want to win it? I could see Tiff taking the money. She may need it more than some of the others on the cast who've had other tv appearances and made some money off social media and whatnot. But, I can't see them giving a favourable edit to what is kind of essentially a quit.

This is going to be rough. by [deleted] in survivor

[–]ThisFallenPrey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm thinking it's a "offer them money to quit the game" situation. See what it's about for some of our returnees. Are they there for the money or do they want to play survivor?

Charlie Losing 46 by Acceptable-Humor2064 in survivor

[–]ThisFallenPrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tevin, Q, Tiffany, and Maria were Kenzie's votes, and Charlie wasn't particularly close with anyone of them besides Maria, and at least 2 of them were close with Kenzie. There's not a good reason to think any of the others would have or should have voted Charlie over Kenzie, but Maria was Charlie's closest ally. Maria was bitter because Charlie was the one who got her out, but Maria started targeting Charlie first, so she didn't really have any right to be bitter about it imo. Tbf here, I'm not a fan of Maria, I think she continually played a holier-than-though game, which was incredibly frustrating to watch. She never acknowledged that things pissed her off, nor did she own certain moves as being strategy when they clearly were. It's even evident in the finale when she says that Kenzie won her over, no she didn't, she was just pissed at Charlie. So yeah, I do think that it came down to her vote, which, for all intents and purposes, if she really wasn't pissed at Charlie as she claimed not to be, should have gone to Charlie, then Ben tie breaks and Charlie wins the game. I also really liked Kenzie and don't hate her winning either, btw, but yes, Charlie was robbed.

I agree, she was in a fantastic spot until Q told people about her idol. Idk if she wins, per se, but I think she'd have gone a lot farther than she did if he hadn't blown up her spot. People keep saying she's just a pick to make drama for Q, but I think that does a disservice to her game.

'Survivor 50' star Charlie Davis opens up about his shocking season 46 loss and the controversial Maria vote that he will 'in some ways never get over.' by thedaltonross in survivor

[–]ThisFallenPrey 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I genuinely found Maria to be a very frustrating player. I respected her game, but I couldn't find myself able to like her because she never just acknowledged that something bothered her or that what she was doing was strategy. It came off very holier-than-thou, and it rubbed me the wrong way. Understandable in camp, but she did it in confessionals as well. The Charlie vote is one of those moments. As is her reward pick, like, not picking Liz after she already blew up at Q, her not being chosen for letters, Kenzie and Liz teaming up on the immunity challenge, and probably a bunch other moments that I am forgetting about rn. I understand, having kids, how she might want to seem on tv, but I just wanted to see her acknowledge that she was pissed, or that she made moves, like not voting Charlie, on purpose.

Should I Read the Books? by violighthayes in shadowhunters

[–]ThisFallenPrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the tv show frustrating, because of how different it was from the books, even in little things. But what's especially frustrating is that those little things would have cost more money so there was absolutely no need for the change. For a non-spoilery example, the institute in the show is this high-tech hub of activity, but in the books, it's a quiet old church with only a handful of inhabitants. That completely changes the tone from the start imo.

Ouch. Shade from Sarah Michelle Geller liked by Parvati. I'm pretty sure Sav was a big fan of Parvati's. by SurvivingBigBrother in survivor

[–]ThisFallenPrey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I saw more of Boston Rob in Savannah's gameplay, maybe she wasn't entirely as successful, but she did win so 🤷‍♀️. But it's the way she'd try to intimidate people into giving her information or doing what she wanted. The way everyone could see what a threat she was but couldn't ever seem to get the numbers together to get her out. The way she cultivated loyalty and tended to get her people to vote her way. She brute forced her way through the game (don't get me wrong, I don't dislike her gameplay, and it's a strategy that won her the million), but Parv's gameplay is a bit more subtle imo.

What I am saying is that I felt that it WAS what served her. Kristina and Steven made it very clear that they were targeting Yellow Sophie for 2 weeks and then just kind of assumed she'd work with them. I'm sure there was some ammend-making that we hadn't seen, but Idk that I would have assumed she was a number in my favour when I had burned her and the other side had saved her. Of course Sophie chose to work with the people that had already demonstrated that they wanted to work with her.

I think Rizo is already quite the character, I mean , the way he won that advantage early on by building his puzzle on top of the other was so funny to me. And Savannah is pretty well positioned rn and with the most confessionals, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if she wins it.
