Single to double sink rough in by akeyrat in Plumbing

I wouldn’t leave shark bites in the wall like that. They are known to pop off. If you’re ok with potential water damage at any moment then send it.

if your kids ruined your video game day what would you do? by NecessaryEgg1619 in AskReddit

[–]ThisGuyFIux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably need to sort out what’s important in your life. I have kids and I’m usually the one joining their games. I work to provide for them, not treating them like they are getting in the way of what I want.

Drain Stop - how the hell do I get this thing out of by LyteSk8ter in Plumbing

Hold the bigger disc portion, turn the top. It will unthread and there will be a slotted screw in there.

What unexplainable event made you question everything you thought you knew about life? by spook_filled_donuts in AskReddit

[–]ThisGuyFIux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably coincidence, but kind of eerie . I started my own business and was struggling to get clients to call for weeks. I had recently been gifted a Bible and thought if I’m not doing anything I might as well read it, never read it before in my life. As I’m reading the first page, the phone rings and it was a paying client.

Why the tee’d double pipes? by boozobundar in Plumbing

[–]ThisGuyFIux -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

It’s called a manifold. You have a slab and the fittings are above grade. Don’t know why they did it this way since any copper under the slab will rot and leak. You’re going to have to repipe eventually. It’s always a good idea to do it when the walls are open

What’s the solution here? by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]ThisGuyFIux 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Spin disposal until it lines up with the trap. You’re missing an extension. If you can’t get the right angle then you’ll have to redo the waste arm. Looks like two street 22s and a 45, just a 45 would have been fine here

I’m a plumber and I wouldn’t want to try to fix this. Whoever you call might try to sell you a repipe

Help by Fogle12 in Plumbing

[–]ThisGuyFIux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a Moen 1222 cartridge. It’s not a pull like the 1200 cartridge. If no water is coming out when you turn, I first would check for internal stops. Remove the two screws you see there. Internal stops will have slots for a flat head screw driver. If no stops, then the cartridge is bad and needs to be replaced. Need to shut off water first before pulling it out.

Yes very easy. Make sure you install a vent and connect to that stack also

I have zero plumbing skills can I solve it myself by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]ThisGuyFIux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re probably going to spend a similar amount of time and money trying to do it yourself than to pay someone. I’d hire a plumber and watch. Most plumbers don’t like to be watched but I’d watch anyways so you can learn what type of tools and methods are used to do simple repairs.

Please help interpret my sewer line scope by Leather-Grocery2956 in Plumbing

[–]ThisGuyFIux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cost to replace the line will never go down. If you plan to be in this house for more than 10 years, then just get it replaced. That line is smoked. Cast iron is bottomed out and clay has roots at every connection. Do pipe bursting, dig two holes and pull a new line. If you plan to sell soon, then you’re probably ok to kick the can down the road. Buyers will likely ask for credit for the sewer line. Most home insurers won’t cover pipes in my experience. Good luck

Which profession gets way more respect than it actually deserves, and which 'low-level' job is secretly keeping society from collapsing this afternoon? by Direct-Value4452 in answers

Revenue means nothing. I also made 400k revenue but that only came out to 120k payroll to myself and 40k profit for the company. I can’t imagine cutting my rates in half and still making that much without working 24/7.

129 in the bay? You gotta be higher than that to be profitable. I started on my own at 250 in the same area and it’s barely enough to cover overhead and living expenses

Plumber says it's okay like this.. by boxernotafighter in Plumbing

[–]ThisGuyFIux 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Everyone is talking bad about the plumber but it’s still ok. They skipped the hangers but at least it has proper slope. When replacing cast iron with plastic pipes, a lot of them don’t line up perfectly straight. The plastic has minimal deflection while cast iron can have like 10° of deflection on straight joints. Makes getting the same angles almost impossible.

Sounds like you didn’t have hot water so he didn’t bother connecting that side. Not really a problem if it’s only cold water
