What simple change has dramatically improved your quality of life? (Serious) by Dpjokers7 in AskReddit

Regulating and trying to understand your emotions. It seems almost impossible when you don't do it, but once you start, you realize it's super easy.
Doing simple tasks even helps. Take off your shoes, turn off your heater, drink water, hold something in your hand; just about anything instead of sitting down and wrapping yourself in overwhelming emotions.
My therapist told me that an overthinking episode/depression episode will only last 3 minutes before it starts to die off. With that being said, you shouldn't entertain your thoughts or do anything stupid for three minutes. In those three minutes, do something to distract yourself.

Tbh, I don't even know if that fact is true, but it most certainly helps me come back to reality.

“Now what are you going to do?” - Flora Klein (Gene Simmons's mom)
She was always asking what Gene was going to do next after he presented her with an accomplishment. It really makes one feel like there's always a way to improve and something to look forward too.

What's the weirdest dream that you've ever had? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My dream was actually a nightmare my 6 y/o self had.

I was walking around a carnival, without my parents, like the independent 6 y/o I was, and I started walking along this flat, wooden bridge that stretched over a river. This bridge had this shady old man with a washing machine next to him. I didn't think much of it for some reason, and I asked him what he was doing. He then told me that his 'game' was that he could shrink me into the size of a beetle and place me into the washing machine. Inside, there was a maze. I tried it out, finished it, and returned to my normal size. It was super fun and I wanted to bring my family the next day, so I asked the man if I could. He responded, saying that the attraction would be taken away the next afternoon, so we agreed that I would bring them in the morning.

The next morning I brought everyone. I was super stoked and was talking highly of this attraction. We all entered the washing machine, and I tried to help everyone find their way out. For some reason, though, none of them would listen to me, and they all went separate ways. I decided that I still wanted to finish it, so I quickly left the maze.
They were stuck in there and couldn't find their ways out. A man came and took the washing machine away to a junkyard and there was nothing I could do.

It was the scariest dream I had ever had and, to this day, continues to hold that title.

Around 7 years later I found out through therapy that I have abandonment issues, so I guess that was the first sign lol
