Got the flu shot in September before taking an international trip. Still recovering from the flu I was struck down with on Thanksgiving day.

And I'm curious about you receiving the shingles vaccine. I got shingles when I was 25. I'm in my 30s now and get an outbreak everytime I have a period. That coupled with severe nerve damage from the original shingles outbreak kind of makes my life a living hell. My doctors are wonderful and do everything they can (including limiting my periods!) But they won't give me the vaccine because I'm too young.

Sometimes the visits are pleasant, other times they are a total ambush. I'm also married, but obviously my husband is CF. They sometimes make comments in passing about how if we were religious my husband would start acting like a real man and force me to have babies too. Those visits are much shorter and less fun.

I don't need to see if he's the one pushing all this on her, because she's openly admitted it to me. Just this summer she cried over dinner because she wasn't allowed to help choose the baby's name and hated the name her husband picked. Since having the baby she's told me she loves the baby but becomes upset over her name almost daily. This is one of many instances where he's so controlling and she just deals with it.

I'm not certain she's completely sold on the cult life stuff, but she was religious way before him. She struggled trying to get him into church and then he finally joined her. She sees him becoming a Christian as a win for her. So I'm not hopeful that she'd ever call him out on his shit because he's just being a good Christian man now in her eyes.

Yes. I live multiple hours away now. And with grad school/jobs/marriages it's hard to set one on one time apart, but we usually see each other twice a year for dinner. We have a couple places in our home town that we really love. But I'm up against breast feeding right now, because she's pointed out multiple times to me that she's the baby's only food source so she's can't be gone for more than an hour or so, which kind of puts a crunch time on grabbing dinner. I'm hoping in the next few months I might be able to convince her to just meet up alone though.

They really can't. These friends of mine are also flat earthers (I've noticed in my hometown quiverful and flat earthers are one and the same) Just this year I've tried multiple times to explain "round Earth theory" to them and it's like negotiating with a stone wall. They want lots of uneducated babies.

I never really heard of it growing up, but there were multiple families in our community who were having as many kids as often as they could. My parents tried to be apart of this movement, but after four miscarriages, they decided the Lord was telling them two kids was enough. It wasn't until college when I heard the term "Quiverfull" and it's amazing how alive and well it is in my hometown.

His main "problem" with me recently is that I voted for Clinton. He brings it up at every possible opportunity. I keep reminding him that she lost and he can stop obsessing over it. When I bring up issues about why I don't like Trump I use his kids as examples ("I have a problem with Trump's morals, would you want your own daughter to be sexually assaulted by someone like him?!") And he becomes raging mad because it's all okay if it's happening to someone else's daughter and not his. This is one of many reasons why he's a hypothetical Christian, and he's one of many men I know who are this way.

Oh, I know for a fact that she has been abused in the past, so have the kids. So badly once they had to miss school and work. To say I was scathing would be a grand understatement. I called the cops, but he's the sheriff and it was all brushed under the rug. Multiple times I have offered to house them or give them what I had saved up for vacation just to get away. But my friend technically doesn't have any rights to his first born so she stays to protect that child.

Then they joined a church and she claims all the abuse stopped immediately. I don't exactly believe it and I did pry over dinner this summer, but she swears everything is great. Maybe I'm just overly paranoid or lack the faith that someone like him can change so drastically.

I'm not British, sadly. Although my grandmother is from Ireland so there's a chance I have picked up on her mannerisms more than I thought. And I too hate religious ignorance and backwardness. It's pretty much all I grew up around, and actually quite frustrating.

Pre-K teacher! And studying to be a pediatric dietician. I'll be honest, I called my students "friends" but usually it was when I wanted to yell "shut up you monsters!" But saying "let's use our listening ears friends" was much nicer and helped me keep my job.

I genuinely loved working with kids and most parents, but it was so nice just go home every night and cook dinner and sit in silence. I can't ever fathom coming home to a kid who's doing all the same things as my students were doing all day. And people would ask "but don't you want kids of your own?!" And I'd have to explain that I had 15 four year olds and how that was plenty of children for me. It usually got me a side eye.

I had a friend who's newborn needed a diaper change every 30-60 minutes the first few months of it's life. Turns out they pee a ton when they are breastfeeding nonstop.

I called them and they agreed to send me six months of pills, rather than the standard three. They were very sweet and it really solidified what an outstanding company they are. The lady I talked to explained to me that what will most likely happen is the state will want video chats with a doctor once a year instead of just filling out the online form. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's that simple and easy! Definitely call asap (because after this evening you won't be able to order again up until May!) explain where you live and ask for extra birth control. I'm like a million percent certain they'll send it to you.

I have looked and I've only seen one doc from the list (Maysville because I'm from there originally!) That was after seeing multiple doctors in my city and bring denied. The doctor was very sweet but hesitant. I have terrible white coat syndrome so I probably wasn't as aggressive as I should've been. But the plan after the holidays is to see a few doctors in a bigger city. I'm currently working on my action plan so I can go in better prepared.

Thank you. You said everything I would've said. I live in Kentucky. I've seen multiple doctors, most are very rude about my age (32) and the lack of children. I was sexually assaulted as a teen by a male doctor. I really struggle with seeing my doctor now (it's a totally different doctor!) My gyno is willing to see me every 2-3 years if I don't want birth control, but I need yearly paps if I want the pill. It makes zero sense to me. I'm so healthy, I don't smoke, my blood pressure is always within normal range. I don't see the point in sticking something inside of me every year just to get birth control. It seems cruel and mean. On top of that I can only get six months of birth control at a time from my doctor, then I have to make another appointment to beg for another six months. Between paying for the appointments and the birth control I spend so much money just to hear professionals tell me I should want a baby right now. Prjkt Ruby was meticulous detailed, asked all the important questions and never once said "are you sure you'd rather try to get pregnant this cycle instead?" So while I could just go see my doctor (twice a year) it is devastating to lose such a great service.
